We dont know how old you were, we dont know where you came from, but we do know that you will be missed by us all.
Duke showed up in our community about 5 years ago. He was already full grown and the biggest lab I ever met. He adopted James and Lillian an older couple in our neighborhood. His new humans tried to find his home without any luck. He just showed up and stayed. He had the biggest smile of any dog I have seen and he shared that smile with everyone furr and human. He would make his rounds each day as all the neighbors arrived home from work to get his luvin's and treats.
Not exactly sure what happened other than he was gone after a really bad storm Thurs morning, didnt come back for breakfast (not like him...he loved to eat). We all looked for him and he was not in his usual places. I got the call Friday afternoon that he made it home before he passed. I know he traveled hurt and made it to his yard that is where they found him, it was too late. I saw his human digging a grave so I got there in time to help put Duke in his final resting place, covered by a quilt he loved. His humans are so sad as we all can relate to.
Duke you were a very good friend, I know that Shadow was there to meet you and to hear news from home. Hot and Rock will miss you as will all the furr babies and humans in the valley.
Rest in peace sweet boy, I will look forward to seeing your smile again.
