Run free sweet Gracie

Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge is the theme of a work of poetic prose written some time between 1980 and 1992, whose original creator is unknown. The theme is of an other-worldly place to which a pet goes upon its death, eventually to be reunited with its owner.

I am so sorry for the loss your Mom has endured.  Gracie will always remember the good life she had with her, even if it was only a short time.

Bless her heart -- what a horrible way for the body to betray itself.  Well, when she gets beyond Rainbow Bridge she will be able to eat and feel good!!

    Thank you all so much.

Gracie wasn't touched by loving hand for the first several years of her life, and I think she had a hard time believing that she'd never be hurt again. She lived in a constant state of anxiety, but I hope her final years were as happy as they could possibly be. We're at peace knowing she's now happy and worry-free.

For my birthday, my wife had given me the book "Getting Lucky" by Susan Marino, who runs the Angel Hospice. She took care of dogs when no one else could. You, with Gracie, reminds me of that. Blessings on you for being an angel and she awaits you at the Bridge.

What a  beautiful, beautiful girl.  I am so glad her last years were in a loving home.Since I have goldens I have a special feeling for them.  Just yesterday on one of my golden  boards a 7 month old had to be sent on her final sleep.  She had been spayed and was given rimadyl for pain, a few days later she had a red rash in her ears, the vet decided she had a reaction to the rimadyl and took her off it.  But then it was discovered her liver had damage.  No way of knowing for sure if it was the rimadyl, but that is one of the leading reactions to it.    So Copper Penny and Gracie can both be healthy and happy together.

I am so sorry for you and your mom's loss.  Gracie was a beautiful girl.  I'm sure her and Boss have met at the bridge and are running free as they would when they were young here on earth.

    God speed, Gracie.

I just posted on the original thread before seeing this one.  Again, my deepest condolences to your Mom, you, and all who loved Gracie.  She was beautiful - such a gentle face.  It breaks my heart to hear about dogs who have so many years of their lives spent in loneliness, without loving hands on them.  We have encountered a number of such dogs in neighborhoods we've lived in (I was just saying a little prayer for one across the street who lives in a dark garage 24 hours a day).  But, I try to focus on the angels like your Mom who see to it that the last thing such a dog knows is a loving home, so the sad memories can be washed away.  I think now that Gracie is an angel at the Bridge, she can visit animals still on earth who are living lonely lives.  Before he went to the Bridge, I asked my beloved dog to do that after he left us.  I'll ask him to look for a sweet faced Golden who has just arrived - he was a gentle, noble boy, so he will greet her comfortably so she won't be afraid.  My sympathies to all of you, and run free, Gracie.
