Indy the Pharaoh Hound

Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge is the theme of a work of poetic prose written some time between 1980 and 1992, whose original creator is unknown. The theme is of an other-worldly place to which a pet goes upon its death, eventually to be reunited with its owner.

    Indy the Pharaoh Hound

Ed (Xerxes) called me this evening to inform me that a tragedy took place in Georgia this evening for one of the Pharaoh Hound owners he knows. Ed, Xerxes and Gaia are in Georgia and tonight was a big Pharaoh Hound Association Award Banquet. Unfortunately during the banquet a 4-year old beautiful female Pharaoh Hound named Indy managed to escape her both her crate and the vehicle she was in and was killed on the highway.

Ed and the others who went looking for her in the rainy conditions are distraught by this loss and he wanted me to post something in her honor.

    OMG!
I can only imagine how upsetting this must of been for everyone.
Run free now Indy--in PH paradise.

What a tragic thing to have happened - everyone must be devastated.  Run free, Indy.  I'll bet you were a beautiful dog, and you'll be met by lots of other special dogs at the Bridge.

How heartbreaking!  Be free and at peace, Indy!

This makes me think of Vivi, the whippet - I had to fly to NY this week and was reminded of her by posters still up around LaGuardia.

How very sad for everyone.  I know that this must have been so hard for Ed - he is so devoted to this wonderful breed.  Our thoughts are with everyone involved, and we'll burn some sage tonight to carry healing thoughts upward.
Run free at the Bridge, Indy - it's clear you have more humans who love you than just the ones you lived with...

run free, indy!  chase all the things that catch your eye!

how tragic, and perhaps even ironic...

I want to thank everyone for the healing thoughts and prayers and positive energy.

The pharaoh community is very tight, and all of us feel this loss and take it personally.

This tragedy serves to remind us that each and every one of us have an awesome responsibility for the safety of our animals.  Indy gnawed her way through a soft mesh crate and opened a van door to escape.  This was primarily because of the thunderstorm that was roaring through.

Please take a moment and hug your dogs and keep them safe.

Run free Indy, your life was short but you were loved by many.

She must have been so scared. There are no scary storms at The Bridge Indy, only gentle rains to play in.

I am so so sorry to hear about Indy.  It is so tragic.  My thoughts and prayers to her owners, I can't imagine how devastated they are.

How horrible. I am so sorry for the owner and anyone else involved in this dogs life. I can only imagine how heartbreaking this would be.
