Casey left for the bridge

After trying everything we could and 3 days in the hospital Casey had to leave for the bridge. She had liver failure. She had just turned 14 years old which is pretty old for a dobie. I attribute our great vet for putting her on Sam-E pills twice a day for the past 3 years. She had liver problems then and we started the pills and I think that is what gave us 3 more years of great times. We traveled many miles and seen many wonderful sights together. It's just very sad around the house without hearing her footsteps coming down the hall to check on me. I have never loved or missed a dog as much as Casey. But I'm trying to think that she's free now. She couldn't walk or eat anymore on this earth. Thanks so much for all your thoughts. Here she is with a halo around her.

How appropriate - she surely continues to be your angel just as she was while she was with you in body.

So sorry for your loss; fourteen was surely a venerable and remarkable age for her breed - how fortunate you found such an excellent vet who helped give you more years together and her a higher quality of life for that time!

What a wonderful picture to remember Casey by. It is so great that Casey was with you for such a long time and the times were happy. I wish you peace and be comforted by the memories of such a great dog.

I'm sorry for your loss. I do happen to know that there is a really nice Dobe friend for her at the Bridge - her name is Orca, and I'm sure she will show Casey around and see that she has everything she needs until you meet again.

Oh, Casey - you join the ranks of blessed Dobes who fill our yesterdays and tomorrows with beautiful memories of honor, dignity, humor, and undying friendship.

Gracie sends nub wiggles and quick furtive kisses to your owner to encourage a smile. Our Dobes know our hearts so well... Thinking of you and sending good thoughts for peaceful memories of Casey to surround you.

My best friend closed her eyes last
night, As her head was in my hand.
The Doctors said she was in pain,
And it was hard for her to stand.
The thoughts that scurried through
my head, As I cradled her in my arms.
Were of her younger, puppy years,
And OH...her many charms.
Today, there was no gentle nudge
With an intense "I love you gaze",
Only a heart thats filled with tears
Remembering our joy filled days.
But an Angel just appeared to me,
And he said, "You should cry no more,
GOD also loves our canine friends,
HE's installed a 'doggy-door"!

Grammazona, she was as fine looking a Dobie as I have ever seen and must have been a credit to her breed. And she runs free and fast, now. And your love made it possible.
