I helped Coconut cross to the Bridge today. It was time. He found me in the midst of a flood of epic proportions in 1998. I heard a desperate meowing outside my office. I went out in the pouring rain and he came running to me and practically leaped in my arms. He was just a tiny kitten. I had already said previously, many times, that I wanted no more cats. But from the moment he found me I knew there would be no giving up this kitten.
He was raised with my Labs and he helped raise Twister. lol He loved dogs and was always shocked when a dog didn't want him to cuddle up and snooze. Belle has always tolerated his advances but just tolerated. Rex thought Coconut was his cat and they slept together and were best friends. Twister and Coconut had a live and let live policy. Twister never was able to intimidate Coconut in any way. Coconut was unflappable. Gabby thought he was the most incredible fluffy toy ever and loved him just a bit too much and with way too much slobber. :)
DH and I are both very sad. He was one of the most loving cats we've ever owned. Here are a few pics I found. He could worm his big butt into any space that contained a dog or a comfy lap. Belle was trying to pretend he wasn't there. Twister's face tells the story of their relationship. lol I know he's at the Bridge looking for his BFF dog, Magic. If animals can be soul mates, they were.
Run free Coconut, you were loved very much and will be missed.
I don't know why I can't space pics properly on this site anymore. Sorry for the crammed together look.
