Triplet

Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge is the theme of a work of poetic prose written some time between 1980 and 1992, whose original creator is unknown. The theme is of an other-worldly place to which a pet goes upon its death, eventually to be reunited with its owner.

    Triplet

Our cat Triplet(who we always called Little T) passed on Friday.  My husband rushed him to the vet but he died very shortly after getting there.  Really, before they had a chance to do anything to him.

I'm not sure what happened exactly.  The vet said some kind of trauma, probably hit by a car.  There was no signs of bites or anything else on his body.

But, he was a wonderful, sweet cat.  He had a funny walk, he walked really heavy footed, you could hear him coming.  He had a very squeaky meow, he was 13lbs but he sounded like a squeaky hinge when he meowed, very cute.  He liked to sleep in our bathroom sink all the time.

We are so upset.  We are going to miss him terribly.

I cannot look at pictures right now.  But, when the time is right I will add some.

Thank so very much everyone.  Its quite difficult to process my own grief and try to help my husband thru his.  He got the worst of this as he saw Triplet and has that image in his mind. We've eaten pizza and pancakes all weekend!

Strange news, a friend of mine who lives in the next town over just had the same thing happen to her cat.  They were home and able to get the cat to the ER and he made it overnight.  But, died this afternoon.

Its just strange that this happened to both cats so close together.  Triplet was a past feral and very street smart.  So, I just don't get it.

It only takes one mistake at the wrong time; maybe he was chasing a bird or squirrel and didn't see the car?

Lori, I saw your post about your cat in the thread about KittyKitty . . . now that I've read the details, I can only imagine how upset you and your husband are.  Not that it's ever easy to lose a beloved pet, but I was assuming he was old and/or sick.  The not knowing has to be awful.

If there were no outward signs of injuries or trauma, I wonder if he got into some poison or something?  You never know what people have in their gardens or in a garage or shed he could've wandered into accidentally.  It's odd that you know someone else who had a similar experience with their cat, too.

Our dear friends lost a cat a few years ago named "Mr. T." (they got him when that guy was a big TV presence).  Mr. T. liked to drink only out of the bathroom sink faucet.  He'd stand on the counter until someone came over and turned on the faucet.  I bet he'd be willing to share a special sink at the Bridge with Little T.  They'd make a good pair!

Sending comfort and hugs to you and Mike.
