Oh no, I'm so sorry! I was just telling my husband last night about your update after bringing your little guy home. Like Dyan said, I hope it's some comfort to you that he was home, in a safe and loving place, so that his final hours included your touch and your voice, rather than in the vet's office where he may have felt scared or alone.
I can't even imagine experiencing something like this. My heart goes out to you. And though it can't bring your dog back, I hope there's some way to let the other dogs' owner know what happened and have some repercussions, like perhaps helping pay for your vet bills. Can you make a complaint with a city/town agency or something? Neighbors in the area should be informed that those dogs could pose a threat to others if they aren't securely contained.
Again, I'm so very sorry. Take care of yourself as you grieve the loss of your special pup.
