Goodbye Sweet Cody

Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge is the theme of a work of poetic prose written some time between 1980 and 1992, whose original creator is unknown. The theme is of an other-worldly place to which a pet goes upon its death, eventually to be reunited with its owner.

    Goodbye Sweet Cody

My neighbor texted me a bit ago that Cody went to the Bridge this morning. Crying

I am sad but know it was time.  I know he is happily sunning himself in a beautiful flower bed watching the bunnies and birds.  Gently waving his plume like tail.

Cody you were loved by so very many and were by far THE sweetest most gentle boy ever.  I wish I could have rubbed that belly one more time for you - and I will when we meet again

instead of running free you are sashaying freely now big guy

    Broken Heart

Cody -- if you genuinely like bunnies and birds then I *know* there was a Mostlie Sheltie named Foxy, and his lady, Ms. Kee Shu, along with a couple of cockatiels who like dogs named Hootie and Moonie who all met you this morning.  They will help you find that sweet spot with good company to enjoy yourself beyond Rainbow Bridge.  It's a pleasant place and it sounds like you'll love it.  Enjoy your pretty, sunny days in the Meadow.

You'll be missed even by those of us who never got to give you a belly rub!!

Sweet Cody, no more pain big guy. There were so many of our pups there to meet you. They'll show you the way and Frisby will know where all the cookies are. Hugs for your humans and your human friends, esp. Karen.

Karen, tell Cody's people that there a lot of us who are thinking of them.  Your wonderful descriptions of him made me feel like I knew him. Run free beautiful sweet boy.

Broken Heart I know that there's a wonderful, sunny spot with your name on it at the Bridge.  You might be joined by a Shepherd mix that would love to sun with you.

Awwww, I'm sorry but not so much for Cody as for all those who loved him and will miss him. I hope they're soon comforted by wonderful memories.

Just home from sharing a bottle of wine and some laughs, cries and memories with the owners.  I had put all the pics I had of Cody on a dvd and we enjoyed those - especially remembering puppy Bugsy and Cody playing.  They were as opposite in energy as a two dogs could be but similar in other ways.  He will be sorely missed.  I am sure that Bugsy will be looking for him daily as he always did.

I am kind of mixed between sad and relieved for Cody. I so wish I could have given him one more belly rub - I have never seen a dog that wanted to be petted or groomed more than he did. He was a special dog Crying

Before I got Bugsy I would head out for a walk and if he was outside I'd ask him if he wanted to come, if he wagged that full tail I'd grab the leash and off we'd go. Such wonderful memories

I didn't get to know you, Cody. But I will.

I know I won't make it to Heaven and I already have a parking space in the other place. But I hope to upgrade to the Rainbow Bridge. If so, I will see you there. Run free and save a big, slobbery face lick for me.
