I lost my sweet little Shih Tzu Taz last night to complications of IMHA. Two years ago I was working at home and saw a car on my dead-end road throw what I thought was a bag of garbage out. I ran out to get the liscence plate of the car when I realized it wasn't a bag of garbage but a little Shih Tzu. He was filty, ungroomed, thin and not neutered. I had to chase him up and down the road to try and catch him, he ended up running under my car which led to another 45 minutes laying in the street trying to get him to come out. I finally was able to pick him up, although there was lots of growls and knashing of teeth. Took him to the SPCA just in case he was stolen and possibly someone was looking for him, he had no ID so he was available for adoption in 48 hours. I went to adopt him (who wouldn't want a little Shih Tzu that bit!!) and the SPCA did not want to let me have him because of liability issues (he bit the groomer there). I finally convinced them to let me at least try as I had no children that could get hurt. They finally agreed and my little Taz came home. The SECOND (seriously) he entered my home that little dog transformed into the most loving, fun, awesome little soul ever. He entered my pack and was a complete and total joy every single day. He was wonderful with children and NEVER EVER showed signs of biting again. I still can't belive he's gone, he was only 3. My best friend summed it up beautifully, he was a smile everyday, I'm heartbroken. Goodbye sweet Taz, you will be in my heart forever and I hope your story inspires others to give a "hopeless" case a chance.
