I am very sad to report on the passing of my beloved pal Fritz,he was 8 years old.On Sunday ,he brought up and after that,he didn't eat very much had no ambition,the night before he was fine and the entire week,can't understand how it hit him so fast.The vet said he lost 6 pounds, I loked at iblls of past visit sand in June ,he was 18.9 pounds,was only 12 pounds on Wednesday,Mom thinks it happened the last 3 or 4 days,not since June,because he was playing and eating good,had fun with my shoe before my birthday,had been to the groomers,although the groomer said he wanted sleep all the time,also looked good when I had pictures taken with him on my 50th birthday.We took him to the vets on Wednesday,he had been drinking okay but he said he was dehydrated,was to be put on intravenous, was going to get x rays and blood work,that was $400.he was to stay overnight ad were to get him on Thursday but the vet phoned on Wednesday at 20 to 1,he had Diabetes,count was 36 ,normal is 3,Kidneys were failing,I don't think this is the reason he was vomiting on Sunday,he had something else wrong with as twice I picked him up and moaned,he was in pain with something,I think he may have had cancer also,I saw at home he had vomited some dark fluid looked brown and after being put down,I saw a dark stain under the bed.The diabetes could be treated,the Kidneys were another story,he would need to be watched for 24 hrs and have medicine and if the vets were not opened,they closed at 7 each night,he was to go to an emergency clinic.I was really shook up when I heard this and I couldn't go when Mom went and he was put down,my sister went,I was heart broken,it was the best thing that could be done for him.my sister's husband called that night and mom could tell,he had been crying ,he misses Fritz too.it has been a hard 3 days,have done a lot of crying,hard ot look at pictures of him without breaking down,hews a special little dog,he will be missed by a lot around here.Mom and I talked,she finally gave in and we are getting another dog,this time a Shih Tzu.Mom talked tot a breeder close by on Thursday,she didn't have nay,she had 2 females on eof which is pregnant and will have the litter in 5 weeks and maybe 8-12 weeks later we will have him/herr.She has gone away for 2 weeks and after she back she will phone us and we will go over to see the parents.this will give us time to grieve for Fritz,he would approve of this,he wouldn't want it any other way,he would want us happy.
