Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge is the theme of a work of poetic prose written some time between 1980 and 1992, whose original creator is unknown. The theme is of an other-worldly place to which a pet goes upon its death, eventually to be reunited with its owner.

    Yesterday we took Peaches to the vet to be put to sleep.  Her kidneys had failed.  Peaches was l7-l8 years old. We got her from the Humane Society when she was about 2 or 3.  She was a darling, so gentle and loving.  We shall miss her so much as will our other cat Duffy, who also is her age.  Bye Peaches, rest in peace.  We loved you so much.  Here is her last picture taken in her favorite place the window sill in the dining room where she could watch the birds.

    I'm sorry for your loss.  She was a beautiful kitty who enjoyed a long happy life with you.  I imagine she's sitting in a warm patch of sunshine at the Bridge right now.  Hugs to you and your family.

    I am so sorry. What a wonderful life Peaches had with you after being rescued. I love the picture of her at her bird watching window. She was a beautiful kitty!

    She had a wonderful life with you ... my sympathies and my thots are with you.  She will enjoy the Meadow.

    The animals in your life sure have gotten lucky to be loved so fully by you.  Rest sweetly, Peaches... your soul is full of love from your life here on earth, that I know you'll be fine over the Rainbow Bridge.

    Wishing you comfort at the loss of a companion of so many years.  She was a very pretty cat and clearly enjoyed a happy life with you.
