Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge is the theme of a work of poetic prose written some time between 1980 and 1992, whose original creator is unknown. The theme is of an other-worldly place to which a pet goes upon its death, eventually to be reunited with its owner.

What a wonderful idea. Here is my beloved Mister dog, he died May 2006 due to cancer. He was the most loving, loyal and snuggly Aussie. Rest in peace big guy.

And Gilbert. She got hit by a car early November this year. Very silly cat, and beautiful. She had black and white whiskers. I really miss her.

Sierra - I shared this with another group of Dobe friends and one woman commented she actually looked for her own dogs in the picture (she didn't know why, just did...).  She said she was comforted to see Casey and Joe in the picture because they reminded her of her own Dobes.  Thank you again for the idea and the work you put into it.  I think you'll never know the ripple effects it has...

I would love it if you could add my baby sister Misty to the rainbow bridge.  She passed yesterday at age 10, a month before her 11th birthday and I miss her SO much.  She just got sick a week ago and died so unexpectedly, of chronic renal failure.  Use whichever picture you like.  Thank you so much.

(it's probably obvious but Misty is the white Australian Cattle Dog/German Shepherd mix.  Sydney's the red one, she's 5 years old and still alive and healthy)

Once again, sierra, I cannot thank you enough.  This image of Misty has helped my family tremendously, especially my younger brother, Nick, who is 7 years old.  He misses her more than anything and having this visual helps him to know that Misty is no longer in pain, and is with many other wonderful pets in a beautiful place.  Thank you!!

Thanks for starting this thread. i don't have pics of my other fur kids  that have passed through my lifetime.. but here is my sweet Sammy aka Cool Cat.. we helped him across the bridge today. He's only been in my house since September but leaves a huge hole in my heart. I told him today as I held him when they gave us some alone time that he'd be going to the Rainbow Bridge and that I knew there would be some really wonderful pets there to show him around...

Do I see Barbaro running in the field??  What a nice thing you are doing for everyone.  My 2 pooches made your first picture and it is comforting to see them amongst friends!  Thanks!

What a comforting idea for all of us that have had to temporarily separate from our special family members.  I lost Tippie on December 30, 2006.  She was almost 16 years old.  I love all animals but our bond was unlike anything I have ever experienced.  It seemed as if our hearts had the same rhythm.  My precious girl and I looked at each other in her final moments and I said I love you three times.  It was such a special moment that I will never forget.  She taught me so much about life but also about death.  Tippie touched every life she encountered.  How many humans can we say that about?  Getting to see her alive and well across the Rainbow Bridge makes me sooooooo happy and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
