Below is an update on the email posted as the first post here. Never underestimate the power of an email network.
Greetings everyone.
The past two weeks have been an absolute fury of activity for Lori Dedic, our VP and Cat Program Director, Jen Geraci, our Dog Foster Care Manager, and me because of the incredible outpouring of interest for Franklin County Animal Control in Benton, IL and St. Francis CARE in Anna, IL. About two weeks ago I wrote an email plea which I sent to you all seeking additional foster homes so that we could rescue the dogs and cats at risk of flooding and suffering outdoor and difficult living conditions. Well, your forwarding the emails to others yielded tremendous results. That email went around the US, was put on all different kinds of lists, and went to corporations too. ACP received over 300 emails and over 100 phone calls within two days from people locally as well as from Oregon, Arizona, Utah, Maine, Missouri, New York, Florida, Ohio, etc offering a home for an animal or two needing rescue, or other resources. So, not only did ACP get some new much needed foster homes and volunteers, we were also able to help the Illinois Animal Rescue Coalition who works with the shelters and pounds in rural Illinois - with whom we work to save lives. They now have new rescue contacts, transporters, and volunteers to help as well.
Now during the heat of all this fury, I was contacted by WGN News Radio and ended up being interviewed last Friday evening around 6:30 p.m. by Steve Cochran. His staff received our email and Steve is a big animal lover so he wanted his listeners to step up and help. That was a very exciting opportunity for ACP!
Additionally, Franklin and St. Francis are receiving much needed donations to help them with their needs. ACPHS has also received donations to help us with our veterinary expenses too. So a BIG thank you to all of you who forwarded our email plea onto others; it made a great difference this time. We have been writing updates on our homepage of our website, and will continue to do so, about how people can help. www.acaringplacehs.org
Now, one last thing.....Best Friends Society, the Illinois Network, also were contacted by people so they could be of help and respond to our pleas. I spoke with them, and when they learned of all the efforts ACPHS were doing, they wanted to acknowledge that and help us too. So, now there is an article about us posted it on their website. Please check it out!
Again, thank you for all your help! We could not AND cannot continue to save the lives of so many helpless animals without your support!
Regards,
Michelle
