    How do we look?? *Maze&Sandy*

Maze is sitting at 49lbs and Sandy is a solid 15lbs.

Sandy's been on raw for about 4 months now. I can't remember the exact dates.  I'm wondering if she's still lookin good.

Yes she really does hate the camera that much..

Maze has been on homecooked for about a month and ahalf.

Sandy looks overweight to me, especially for a dog involved in performance events - you can hardly see any hourglass figure from above and very little tuck from the side.

Maze it's hard to tell, but she looks smack int he middle of normal weight to me - you can see a nice tuck and a good hourglass shape.

Since dogs often have very different body types even within breeds, I like to go by the feel of their ribs.  I want to be able to easily feel them (i.e. no pushing at all) when the dog is standing square and straight and in smooth coated dogs like Sandy I will want to see some rib when they turn.

Maggie had a very thick coat, but I kept her very fit.  This is how she looked at peak fitness (33lbs, 19" tall):

Awwww. Sandy, honey the camera will not eat you.

Sandy does look overweight to me in the first pic.  She doesn't seem to have a waist.

    Maze looks pretty good.

I like to use a hands on test for Baily too.  Easily feel ribs and see a waist.

Sandy has a flat/wide back. She does have a waist, she just hunched over when she saw the camera. I'll have to get some better pictures. From the side, she's got a nice tuck. And a minor indent when you look down at her.

This looks like the poster-child for overweight/obese dogs.  If she doesn't really look like this, then yes, better shots to show what she really looks like.  This one makes it look like she's sausage-dog-city.

From what I've seen of your pics (not just these, all the pics you post) they all seem very distorted. Like you smushed the picture after loading it into the thread. So, I think that probably makes it hard to tell what she REALLY looks like. But, from these pictures, IMO she deffinitely looks overweight. I would start cutting back on food a little. Bailey got a little chubby when I switched him to raw, I was feeding him WAY to much. Not every dog follows the "2-3% of body weight" rule, some dogs need much less food on raw than others.

Maze looks good...Sandy looks like she could benefit from a decreased diet.  Even just a slight decrease could help her shed some weight.
