Re: Two Bills in House Calendars Committee
We
have two bills in this committee which schedules the bills for a Floor
Vote after passing their respective committees. Please contact ALL
House Calendars Committee members below and your own representatives to
express your opinion regarding the bills.
SUPPORT HB 1046 by
Homer, which allows an appeals process for seized animals in cruelty
cases. Texas Humane Legislation Network and Texas Animal Control
Association oppose this bill. Ask committee members to schedule this
bill for a Floor Vote in the House ASAP as current law denies due
process to Texas animal owners!
OPPOSE HB 458 by Leibowitz,
which allows counties to limit the number of dogs in subdivisions. Ask
committee members NOT to schedule this bill for a Floor Vote in the
House! Dog limits mean fewer homes for rescued dogs.

SCHEDULED FOR A VOTE on TUESDAY, May 12TH!
We
have two bills in this committee which schedules bills for a Floor Vote
when there is "NO OPPOSITION ANTICIPATED," after passing their
respective committees. Debate is limited. Five or more representatives
may
"OBJECT" to the bill being on this Calendar and it will be transferred to the regular Calendars Committee.
HB 2732 by Eissler, barking dogs in the county.
HB 3180 by Thompson, Breeder/Sales/Puppy & Kitten Lemon Law. CSHB 3180, the
"corrected" Committee Substitute Bill, can be found on the Texas Legislature's web site: www.capitol.state.tx.us

ACTIONS ARE REQUIRED: Call and ask your representative if he will
"OBJECT" to the House Floor vote Tuesday on the Local and Consent
Calendar for BOTH bills as they are very controversial. The chairman of
the committee is the Bill Sponsor for HB 3180 which appears to be a
conflict of
interest. Tell your representative that you will not
vote for him/her in the future if they support this legislation. Find
