Coke...

    Coke...

I'm worried about Coke, he's vomited three times tonight.  First one was mainly food, second was more food but it was more liquidy, third was almost all liquid.  It's grayish in color, no blood, except for the first one which had a few blades of grass.  I know everyone vomits at some point, I'm just paranoid.  Last night Coke ran away for a while (like 20 minutes).  We went out to get Icees and when we got back Nikon ran out the door so DH went after him and handed me all the food and as I was going in, trying to shut the slider with my hands full Coke pushed me and ran away.  We were hunting him down the whole time but it was so dark and we chased him all over, I'm scared he ate something bad in someone's yard when we couldn't see.  He's the type of dog where he eats first, sniffs later, if you know what I mean.  He ate his dinner around 6pm today and then at 9pm DH took him for a jog.  About a half hour after that he threw up the first time in the house, then again on the porch.  We thought maybe he just had an upset tummy from the jog.  When we got back from seeing a movie he had thrown up again in his crate.  He seems under the weather, he just wants to lie down.  He did just get up and take a long drink of water.  After he threw up the first two times I offered him a little bit of food so he'd have a little something in his tummy but he refused.  Hopefully it's nothing but now I'm worried and don't want to go to sleep.  He does vomit when he eats too much grass but it is always more like phlegm with the grass, I've never seen him throw up so much and gray liquid.  Poor Coke!

If it were me I'd be at the vet now.  I know nothing about poison or vomiting, but I would at least call the vet.  Let's put it this way: you wouldn't regret it if you DID call now would you?

Poor Coke!  Huggles for the big handsome guy and I hope he is better soon!

Lies -- given the fact that you are in the North and people are preparing their cars for the winter AND Coke ran away, I do think I'd be on the phone to the vet.  The risk of anti-freeze poisoning is pretty bad, and vomiting results from that at first.  It's been too long since I've lived up there, so I don't know what sort of antidote they give, but I do know that it's REALLY time sensitive.  And if Coke is the sort of dog to do something like that ... I'd probably call the E-VEt even on a Sunday.  Particularly if he's still acting sickly.

He seems OK now.  He seems really hungry, he was trying to get Nikon's stuff out of the expen and checking all the dog bowls for food (last night he didn't want to eat).  I had him sleep on the bed and check him in the night when I got up with Nikon.  Last night he seems really tired and sad but now he seems pretty normal, just hungry (but I'm not going to feed him for a while).

Hope he continues to feel better!

I am not a panicky person with human illness but the first 18 mos or so with Bugs I freaked everytime something was a little strange.  I know you have said he can have a funny belly (poop issues) so may be by vomiting he avoided those problems!

Anyway very very glad he is doing better!

Karen that's why I was so worried.  He does have a sensitive stomach but he poops.  The only time he's ever vomited before was just phlegm from munching grass.  I thought maybe he got a blockage but could not find any missing toys and b/c of the puppy there's really nothing else the dogs could eat.  Oh well, I guess we'll lay off the jogging for a while and give him some rice.

I can totally imagine being concerned about blockage with a dog that eats first - one of the few ways I can say B is easy.  He is totally the opposite, he really never eats inappropriate stuff.  I was apalled that my friend's lab darn near ate an entire stuffie whole Surprise He is 4 and really a chilled out dog he played with it a while tore it up and than gulped a huge chunk down.  I was totally freaked out when my friend told me that he puked it up like 3 days later

Anyway I'm sure some nice calming rice will be good for him.  he couldn't just overdone things with his 20 minute freedom and jog.  Silly boy!
