The "help me understand" thread

It's a subject too dear to me and my core beliefs, I absolutely cannot fathom the idea that being gay is a choice, or that they are somehow less entitled to pledge their commitment to each other than straight people. I have gay family members and friends who I want nothing but lifetimes of love and happiness for.

In other words, I don't trust myself on that thread, some of the things people are saying make me FURIOUS. I can read it, but I'm not posting to it. If someone else can handle any warnings or anything (I know you did one, Gina, thanks) that would be great. The next hot-button thread is on me.

I will deal with it along with anyone else who wants to. I am actually pretty middle of the road on this one. I do see both sides. So I don't mind...I do think any dog piling on ANYONE because their view is not PC tho is wrong...so I will be equally watching for that.

Oh absolutely, and that's why I am refraining from joining the thread. In the words of Oliver Wendell Holmes (I think lol) "your right to swing your fist stops where my nose starts". The people who believe differently than I do have just as much right to their beliefs as I do, so I don't want to be the one swinging my fist.

oops wrong thread!!

... i'll keep my peepers on this one, too. I'm very pro gay rights, but it's not as near and dear to me as the politcal threads.

another red ink request to stay on topic and respectful. Just to head off the tangent Glenda is on, and some of the stuff re teachers and such that could potentially result in a dog pile or nastiness.
