Steve is in the hospital

    Steve is in the hospital

We were in the ER for most of the night, doctor convinced him to be admitted so they can manage his pain and the infection with IV drugs.  It suddenly got very, very bad late in the evening - pain to the point where he was beating his fists on the walls and moaning.  Not pretty.  I don't know how much I'll be around for the next day or two but I'll keep you girls in the loop, though that may be via me texting Lani and her updating here.

Let me know if there is anything I can do.... hang in there. I'm thinking and praying for you both.

I hope Steve's better than new (with a jaw you can really paste him on...) in no time!

    Thinking of you guys!!!

Thanks chick, I sent you an email.  Just checking in here to say he's OK thanks to the good drugs the hospital has but we're not really sure yet what is going to happen.

looking for an update on Steve and yourself Kate...please when you feel up to it, check in!

The last I heard (yesterday afternoon our time so night-time theirs). Steve was still in the hospital with them attempting to keep his pain levels tolerable. Kate is, of course, exhausted.  Other than that it was same-same.

Hopefully she has a full update for us today with lots of GOOD news.

    Thinking of you guys!!

Thanks, gals. :)  He's feeling better because they've got the infection under control, but they had to put in some stitches and they are uncomfortable.  About half the time he seems to be feeling fine, the other half he's weak and very very tired.  I was with him for about 6 hours today and he must have slept for 4 of them.

They're planning on bringing the surgery forward but no date as yet.  He's supposed to have a CT scan in the morning and they may let him come home after that, dependent on how he's feeling and of course the scan not showing any surprises.  His face is still quite swollen and that actually seemed to get worse today, I'm not used to him having a double chin, hopefully that's just one of those random things and it will go down again.

I did manage to get some sleep last night, not enough to make up for the 3 hours I got the night before, but a reasonable full night's sleep, which made it much easier to function today.   When Steve isn't sleeping, he's bored, but I have a surprise for him which arrived today - I bought him a DS, so I'll take that to him in the morning.

Thanks for holding down the fort and generally being superstars.

Well he came home on Friday, but I've been waiting on him hand and foot since then, give the guy credit for one thing - he sure does know how to milk it LOL.

He's feeling better but the pain relief meds make him a bit loopy.  He has an appointment on Friday (I'll go with) to look at the results of the biopsy and the CT scan they did while he was there, and hopefully set a surgery date.

gosh Kate what an ordeal - has it been caused by a bad tooth?  I hope he continues to feel better and they get it all sorted SOON!

No it was actually caused by a retained tooth.  If he'd had a bad one they might have caught it earlier because they'd have needed to do x-rays.  But one of his teeth (unbeknownst to anyone) was a baby tooth, and the corresponding adult one was trapped in his jaw acting as a catalyst for the cyst.
