THIS is why I will never show

heavily...lol. This is between you ladies here, me and the wall mmkay?

I bred a 13" dog who's doing rather well as a Special. I have no ties to him aside from being his breeder. He is Top Ten ranked as of now, I think. I am also friends with a judge...we co owned Nonnie, I own her outright now, tho. Nice lady...elderly and particular, but nice.

Of COURSE you know the 2 met up at a show this weekend and she emailed me that I needed to speak with the owner's because the dog had been DYED quite obviously and badly. *oY* She didn't DQ him because nothing came off on her hands but she thought about it...

Not uncommon, much to the Beagler's shame...faded out saddles on Tri's are often dyed "blacker". But apparently this was too much even for a breeder-judged who knows the practice. She took the Jr aside and nicely asked about it and the Jr said her mother had done the job. Judge was nice to the Jr because well, she's just a kid.

Now I emailed the former owner who gave outright ownership of the dog to this Jr only recently as a present/gift because they work just like dynamite together. She said she's been out of the country for a month or so and would remedy the situation ASAP....she thanked me for the heads up. So at least that went well, LOL.

But...seriously...THIS kind of stuff just wears out my happy thoughts. It is SO lame to dye a friggin' dog...I know worse goes on but...

    lawd...have...mercy.

Ugh Gina, I'm sorry.  As much as it may be common practice, I'm with you, I just don't see the point.  It must be *really* irritating to have someone do that to a dog you bred, I can't imagine.

Are you planning any litters at any point....or just enjoying the houseful of girlies you have at the moment?

    • Gold Top Dog

Yes actually. The plan is to breed Nonnie to this aforementioned, boy of mine, or if he isn't available (he may not be if they're campaigning him heavily...dogs sometimes change after they "get some";) to another nice 13" I am keeping my eye on. Where I will keep said puppy...hmm...no idea right now. LOL.

Oooh!  Well beagle puppies are small, keep it in a pocket...LOL...

The maremma breeding didn't take, apparently the bitch is fertile (blood tests have been done) so now the male needs to be collected and tested, breeder is just waiting for one of her shelties to go into season to act as a teaser.  There are some faint possibilities on the horizon,  but I am putting some thought into importing one from Italy.  Problem is that would mean the youngest I could get would be 10 months old and with this kind of breed, that makes things more challenging.  I'm slightly bummed.....Ah well....you have a rare breed, so I'm sure you understand. :)

Anyway, back to you.....fingers crossed that your boy will be available for Nonnie. :)

aww man, bummer. Are they sure sure? She could just be carrying small...how far along would she be now? I've known U/S to miss pups.

Last tie was May 19th, which was also day 19 of her cycle.  Unless they are WAY tucked up under the ribs, they aren't there....vet is very sure and apparently is skilled at this so unless we get a shock....yeah.  Oddly the bitch is still acting pregnant, and has very pink teats (a sign in maremmas, I don't know about other breeds) but she comes from a line of big produces, her dam's smallest litter was 10, Vienna herself was from a litter of 15...there should be lots in there and they couldn't see *anything*.  Theoretically there could be a few....but any less than 5 and I am SOL anyway.

    Ugh!  I'm sorry Gina.

At least she new you and was nice to the kid!  How aggravating.  I don't get the point in dying, etc.  Especially in Juniors!?  Nuts.

    And Kate, I'm so sorry.

The dog world definitely has its bad days.

oh this was the breed ring Lani, the Jr shows him in both. He is being Specialed and the rules for that...seem to be a bit different LOL.
