    Got a response from Pom

I have no words...LOL....well yes actually, I do....but they might be censored.

    ---

    Kate/Benedict,

First off, I want to say THANK YOU for demonstraiting great leadership/resources and taking the time to write me back thoroughly.

     Benedict:
One point I would like to mention, regarding something you said in a note to Gina, is that although we at dog.com hope that people gain knowledge here, and take that knowledge and make personal use of it, it would be at the very least proper "netiquette" to have approached a member of staff to discuss using polls for articles or other content for your own personal website. That is not, in general, something we are here to provide - and in particular, it would be unfair to members to use their input for such a purpose without their permission or knowledge.  Frankly, to do so makes me personally uneasy - a feeling I daresay is a result of my own feelings of protectiveness regarding our membership as a whole

The forum is designed for people to take the information they have learned and make it of personal use. On my Pomeranian webesite www.pomeranianpuppies.org I am creating a Nutrition section. Thanks to the forum I can get a general idea of doggie diets & favorite brands. This will help to provide an educated list of "popular" dog brand food & diets. This type of information does not require permission or a need for "uneasiness." The average dog owner is not an expert. The average first time dog owner does not know which good brands to feed. These are questions that can be answered via my website for future/current Pomeranian owners. Obtaining this knowledge through the forum is a public survey of interest which is allowed. It also would be good for your forum! Many guest come here and get lost in all this mess. A poll is a quick reference to see what brand of dog food people are using these days and what diet. My requests are good for the forum as a whole and for my own personal knowledge. [If you have the time I still would like to request my submissions for those Nutrition Polls]

In response to my hurt & anger I have decided I am no longer posting here unless it has to do with dogs (which will minimize drama) and if I feel personally attacked or disrespect I will be saying something but within forum rules and reason. If it gets extreme I will then be reporting it.

Hopefully the new software will work out for you all and any problems you are having can become resolved. I too hope this forum can become "self-moderating" and I know (personally) good steps in order to make that possible but it is not my business nor forum to run. I wish the creators & moderators the best of luck in further developement and success of the community.

My main concern is being a DOG forum there is more Non-Dog Discussion at times than Dog discussion. All though it is great many people have created wonderful relationships via this website, it is also what's holding this forum back. It has created cliques and "too many Chiefs not enough Indians." Which then stirs the concern that it is rude for someone to continue objecting & lashing out at someone else's opinion because that person "thinks" they know better. A suggestion and request to make this place better would be an annoucement of some sort to ALL that NO ONE here is an expert and NO ONE knows the 100% RIGHT answer; it's a place of disussing & sharing knowledge. Too many people "chime in" unasked, too many people have a "I'm the boos, I'm right" mentality, too many people thrive off of this forum being a popularity contest (those who are well known are not attacked verses a newbee... how ironic). These are the types of "rude" behaviors I am talking about. It may not have to do with language or direct insulting through the written word but what I'm pointing out brings down this forums mentality more than everyone thinks. Many new people and people in general feel constantly attack for no reason. Unlike most people, I know the value of FEEBACK and I want to SHARE this information with you in hopes to make a difference.

For instance the whole POLL: "Block" button conversation? Why is there even a need for that? This just goes to show how CADDY, IMMATURE, and CLIQUEY members have become! There is so much harassement & "disagreement" going on that people get THAT angry? What is this?! Yahoo Chat?! I thought it was a DOG FORUM. [That is an example of my frustraition]

Non-Dog & personal conversation should stay PERSONAL (PM); it will solve ALL of the drama. A general notice to the public about everyone's negative demenor will also help solve the drama. [These are just some suggestions for the creators & moderators & admins]

Blogs are great for the "mindless chatter." PMs & Friend Requests are great for personal life chatter. I am really beginning to wonder if this is a chat room or dog forum. That's all I want to point out in hopes that it may open the minds of everyone to see the bigger problem.

Before I go I also want to say sorry to any mods & admins for my behavior in participating in this rude/caddyness. I'm done with fighting, I'm done with drama, I'm done with "breaking the rules." I'm here to learn about the things I'd like to learn about DOGS. I'm also here to give my personal experiences (with dogs) open to the public in hopes of helping/educating people. All dog owners can learn great things from one another & I hope this forum can continue to bring that more than bringing "cyber-drama."

Please forward my rational suggestions onto other Mods, Admins, and Web Developement people of DOG.COM. Thank you,

Honestly, i couldn't bring myself to read it all. It's just too painful and long.  Well hopefully she actually does what she says, it'd be nice if she stayed out of the drama.

What are you gonna say back, Kate? Anything?

    • Gold Top Dog

Here's what she sent me. I vote to boot her...LOL. I know we're not but all the same....

    "Gina & Kate,

I got a response from Kate/Benedict and also wrote her a rational reply voicing concerns (hopefully she will forward it to you, if not I'd like you to read it). To keep you informed and to give a readily available / current example of what I'm trying to express concerns about check out my new thread in NUTRITION called "Unacceptable Ingredients" huskysmom made a very valid point at the end. If you thread through the entire post you can clearly see certain members want to just argue for the sake of arguing; this is an example of something that I have found rude rather than debate/discussion. It's also and example of why I feel there is a target on me or something and everyone just has to judge, why? Because I'm new? Because I'm not in your social circle?

I want the best for this forum since I really do enjoy a lot of it. [Can you forward this to Kate too?] I'd like for her to see an example of what I'm talking about. This isn't a MAJOR example but its just a small example how I think some of the members are just on this "high horse" and need to come off of it.

If I am wrong in anyway please let me know. I'd like some guidence about this matter. I tried to be understanding and responsive to the people throughout the thread. Their ignorance (and it is ignorance since everything is very clearly laid out) ruins the thread. Guests or other members have to read all the garbage before getting to anything helpful. My suggestion is when there is off topic as well as ignorance about a thread can their posts be DELETED so things are kept clean, neat, and informative? (since that is what I thought it was all about)

Let me know what you think, I value your opinion. Thank you,"

That just says it all.  I'm not sure, what do you do about a member as ... POMERANIAN <3 as she is (is there a word I can use for her? LOL)

I don't know how I got so lucky as to be left out of it, but I'm SO glad I am. Sorry guy.

And if this is a vote to boot her, count my vote in :o

I am about to send this...

    "If I may be frank?

I see nothing overly concerning in that thread. I see you being asked to clarify your point and purpose, and justify your comments. That is what discussion forums are for. In fact "arguing" can also be termed "debate" and that is also...the point of most forums on any subject. If you do not care to have opposing views or be questioned on them simply not posting them is the best route to take.

To sum up...you have started threads on dog breeding, dog food, politics, abortion/child bearing, at various times. If you expect arguing for arguing's sake...these would be the very topics I would pick...otherwise...??

Pom...I am unsure of your motives here I have to say. YOU choose your topics...YOU choose extremely extremely volatile issues to post about and then YOU get upset when people disagree or ask you to explain yourself further.

In short I do not know how else to tell you aside from straight out.....choose topics that are not hot button issues....and if you choose to discuss them....accept the outcome as being par for the course. People here know the rules...and violators will be dealt with by us. But them disagreeing with you...even if they do so EVERY thread you post....does not invalidate their opinions...any more than your opinion being posted on the threads you choose to reply to...invalidate that OP's."

    • Gold Top Dog

Well I think that sums it up nicely Gina, truly.  I couldn't agree more, either. She chose her subjects and the only other hot button topic she didn't bring up is religion.

    Honestly, she's seeming very trollish.

    • Gold Top Dog

I'm sick of seeing Pom's name at the top of nearly every single AR.  And if it's not her talking about being "abused" then it's someone reporting her.

Admin and Mod's have spent countless hours dealing with her demands, and writing PM's trying to explain our system here.  Maybe she's just not a fit for our forum, and we should show her the door. The door all trolls should be shown.

    • Gold Top Dog

me too. If her comments moderating other users are edited that is two. Do we have one on file for her? If that's three she and we BOTH could use a frickin' vacation. I have about had it.

I PM'd Glenda to remove her comment on the unacceptable ingredients thread...that's all we need. It's off topic so it needs to go.

    • Gold Top Dog

Sorry, I'm back now, had a phone call.

Gina, that note from you was beeyoooteeful.  Thanks!  And yes, we have an edit on file for her.

    • Gold Top Dog

This is my response to her note back to me...which I'll post separately.

"Re: Maybe you need a break

    Pomeranian <3:
I haven't insulted anyone, I've only pointed out concerns & suggestions which I was told that I was allowed to do.

Reread my post...I said you are nearing that line. This is what I mean by overwrought...you are so upset you do not read posts so much as assume what they contain.

    Pomeranian <3:
I never gave a timeline for you to deal with anything; I gave you suggestions/feedback.

Yes 5+ PM's on ONE issue, during the course of a day, is a timeline.

    Pomeranian <3:
I'm overwrought by being told "oh well." I'm trying to help point out and solve the overall problem, because as a member feedback is part of my job.

I am glad you can admit that you are indeed overwrought...as I said...finding things to calm yourself prior to making posts...is probably the root solution to many of the issues you bring up here.

If 3 people review something and do not find an issue that violates forum rules...three people chosen for the job by dog.com...then it's likely there are other possibilities that need to be explored than "they are out to get me with this post". That is for you to strive for and achieve....thinking outside the box of victim...and considering what aspects of one's own behavior, topic choice, tone of posting...might also have at least a small amount to do with your perceived slights.

    Pomeranian <3:

If you have a problem with me contacting you about feedback then I will give my feedback directly to the creators & developers of DOG.COM instead. And for the members I am speaking for (since I'm not the only one frustraited) I will pass on the advice.

You are free to report anything you like to any entity at the company...they will be directed where they need to go. That being Admin in most cases, Mods in others. We all share info and responses, courses of action and feedback, etc. That ensures no one person is making a call.

    Have a good night,

    Gina H.

    Moderator"

    • Gold Top Dog

Her response which I quote above.

"The forum will only get better by having positive and negative feedback. I haven't insulted anyone, I've only pointed out concerns & suggestions which I was told that I was allowed to do.

I never gave a timeline for you to deal with anything; I gave you suggestions/feedback. I'm not supose to deal with situations on my own (that's your job as you have told me, I'm not supose to try and regulate things myself) but I'm not supose to contact you when there is a problem. How do problems get solved then?

I have been mature and I am allowing you to handle things; I've reported my concerns and now I'm letting you handle it.

I'm overwrought by being told "oh well." I'm trying to help point out and solve the overall problem, because as a member feedback is part of my job.

If you have a problem with me contacting you about feedback then I will give my feedback directly to the creators & developers of DOG.COM instead. And for the members I am speaking for (since I'm not the only one frustraited) I will pass on the advice."

    • Gold Top Dog

Lastly...are we editing her last 2 rude posts where she moderates other members in the unacceptable ingredients thread?

    • Gold Top Dog

Yep.  If they're rude, they go.

    • Gold Top Dog

I will let you have a look at them (edit if need be) in context of the thread.

    • Gold Top Dog

     Mein Gott.

This is ridiculous. It's like arguing with a wall.

I'm going to the dog park, see ya'll in a bit. :)
