Anne,
One of your posts was heavily edited yesterday because of this: "after all, most people don't want to give up their "religion". At this
point, I almost think you would need a de-programmer to pry some of his
fans away from the cult long enough to actually get them to learn
anything new and different about dog behavior other than that which he
spouts. They're always too busy defending their god, and not busy
enough reading or observing anyone else."
This
kind of thing really needs to stop. I don't think there are any
regular members here who are unaware of your dislike of CM, but none of
them would get away with saying the above about a positive trainer.
The fact is, there are many people here who would not even be
participating in training discussions were it NOT for CM, who has
brought the issue of training a dog to the forefront for a significant
amount of the dog-owning population. Given that, is this really the
best way to change their minds? I think not. If you disagree with
something he has said or done, or someone advocating same in a thread,
explain why you disagree, and how you might do things
differently. You might change their minds, though history here says
you probably won't, but either way, it isn't your "job" to change
them. We are all here to share what we think, what we do, and that is
ALL we can do here - people are going to do what they think is right
even if they are wrong. If they are wrong, insulting them isn't going
to make them see that, all it will do is make them dig their heels in.
We're not here to disparage the beliefs of others and indeed I wonder,
since you equate support of CM with religion, how you would take it if
someone here were to say the above regarding your own spiritual beliefs.
Regardless, further behaviour of this type will force me to discuss the status of your account with the other Admins.
