Have i missed something? Has there been another format change that i'm not aware of? This board has been up and running for close to 12mths now,so i dont see it as "new" anymore,or is this still the one you're all talking about?

I thought this forum went live in September. Some people were involved with beta testing before that, but the majority hadn't seen it before.

Woops, you're right,i got slightly ahead of myself. It just seems alot longer than that! This board just doesnt seem "new" anymore.I would expect a thread like this to start in the first week or two after a change, not 4-5mths later.

I, too, have noticed a decline in the number of new members posting, and the number of posts per day.

There is no way in the world i could read even a quarter of the daily posts or active threads,i wouldnt have time to do anything else! I,for one would love to see less posts. As it is now i only limit myself to one board, nutrition, and if i have a minute i click on the main topic page and see if any of the last threads appeal, but i dare not click on any of the individual sections.I'm amazed to see some members posting 30-40 posts, and i bet they read more than that without posting.

This is THE most active board i belong to,i cant keep up.

I do agree with the crappy search function, and the tags,i dont even notice or read them anymore as they dont make any sense when clicked on anyway!

With respect to that; patience was requested while they worked the bugs out and and "tweaked" the forum to make it more user friendly.  Unfortunately, the majority of the tweaks just haven't been addressed.  We've been patient and this forum is still not any easier to use.  The search function is the biggest disappointment, sorry to say.

I agree.  And on boards like this, an effective search function is a HUGE deal.  I can't believe they haven't fixed this.

Can you imagine, if a new person came here, wanting to know how to house train their dog, and someone telling them that question has been asked and answered hundreds of times, to use the search function?  LMAO.

Even worse, it is appropriate to use the search function BEFORE you ask a question.  If a new person were to follow this, well established protocol, what would they think of this board after doing so?

    • Gold Top Dog

I can't believe that they haven't fixed a lot of things. Even basic aesthetic stuff that would be so easy to fix.

yeah,,,there WAS something l kind of liked better here than the old forum...but lets see,,,I can't remember what that was!!!   Sad

    Hahah....Oh Anne,,,THAT was it!  Wink

This is actually the most active board I visit.  The only things I would change at this point are the way we have to link things, the search function, the delay in posts, and how the OP's name isn't listed.  Other than that I have gotten used to it and enjoy it.

As far as the membership--I value quality over quantity in situations like this.  I don't know what I would have done through Jack's elbow ordeal without the help and support I received from the members here......

I long for the original i-dog,when Jim was moderating.5+ years ago and i still remember it clearly, yet i cant for the life of me remember the format of the board before this one,the one directly after the original i-dog!

I remember those days, that was a great time on Idog. I hate this forum software. It is slow, it doesn't work well with Safari or Opera, which leaves Mac users kinda struggling. As for the bells and whistles, there is other forum software with the same bells and whistles that work better and they don't have as many bugs.

I go on this site using Safari on my i-pod touch and have no problems with it......

I am still having problems getting notifications. I turn on the NOTIFICATIONS on when I  post to make sure that I know when someone posted, but half the time I get them..half the time not.  Sometimes when checking the threads...they are OFF again and there are new posts. I don't get that part of this forum...and its hard for me to have the time to keep checking and reading the old stuff...no time for the new.

The other thing...while typing an asnswer...as in now...I want to go back and check and name or info on the original post... and the form I am typing on moves up and I can't read the post anyway.  I HATE THAT!

I wish we had a quote feature like we had...much easier for answering posts.

Putting pictures on this forum are a pain,,,a very large pain. I mostly don't bother. Maybe thats a good thing for you guys!  Wink

There are a lot of things I dislike....and some that I like..but honestly..not sure what those are right now.

For those that want to remember what the forum was...go to horse.com...the old format is there.

I agree that picture posting here is a PITA. I'm new, so I don't know how it was before, but I have a photobucket account for use on another board, so I'm used to doing it that way. But this forum only takes up a little strip down the center of my screen with big strips of gray nothingness on either side, so that pictures that fit just fine elsewhere are too big here and must be resized. Resizing is usually a multi-step process, because they appear just fine when I paste them into my reply window, but when I do a preview, the right side of the picture is cut off. So I go back to compose and shrink it, and go into preview again and it's still too big so I go back to compose and shrink it some more and it's still too big...... For EVERY SINGLE PICTURE. Ugh! Everywhere else I resize the picture in Photoshop, before uploading to photobucket, copy the Img link, and paste it into my reply window. I could post a dozen pics in the amount of time it takes me to get just one to fit here. If it showed pictures actual size in the original compose window so I could resize it to fit once, before even going to preview, that would save a lot of time.

I have a Mac too, and can't get it to do paragraphs if I use Safari, and the buttons above the reply window don't always show up, so I had to download Firefox for this one board. And that doesn't work perfectly either, it's got some strange quirks with this board as well.

I don't have an i-pod. I have to type in paragraph tags if I want paragraphs in my posts and I have no formatting options. I see all these other posts with italics, and bold, and large fonts and colors and emoticons. I have none of them available.

I miss the old search function too.  And I use to like when the sub-forums listed the people who were viewing them at the time.

I'm use to it now, but hated it in the beginning.  I also hate that I can't just download a picture from my own computer folder.  Having to go photobucket stinks.
