    I am just curious...(Mom2Lucy) Hahahaha!

I have noticed that on some of the post titles, people type in their usernames along with the title of the post.  Why?

Correct me if I am wrong, but is that a way of saying, "It's (insert name here)."

I will probably get slammed for this, but it seems kind of egotistical.  I mean, it's like saying, "I posted this, not someone unfamiliar."  Or, "I am a regular here, not some fly-by-nighter."  Or, "I am VERY important."

    Just an observation.

I have been dying to ask this.

it was a request of members because this new software does not say who STARTED a post only who posted last. Believe it or not folks here do like to know who started a topic...and there is no other way to know that without clicking the actual thread. It is being done by some because it was nicely requested by several members that it be done. No one has to do it...and I don't think anyone so doing is being egotistical...rather they are being supportive of members who requested it.

It's just because on the old forum format, the original poster of a thread's name always appeared below the thread they started, so you could see who had started each thread. We liked that feature because we all have certain people on the forum that we enjoy reading about or like and with the new forum format, those names all of a sudden were gone. We never knew who started what thread and we missed that. So a few people suggested putting your username in your thread title so it would be more like the way the old boards were where you could always see who started what thread.

Oh okay.  I am glad that was the reason.  Thanks for the reply.

Don't worry about Mom2Lucy, I can see how one could interpret the names being added as some sort of ego or clique thing. I happened to read the post that requested the name addition, so I just saw it for what it was, but if you noticed I never add my name. I figure if people are interested in the topic they will read it regardless if I started it or you started it. By the way welcome to the forum!

I add "Callie" to mine ONLY because it was asked months ago and I see folks are still doing it.  It hits *me* wrong as well, and honestly the only reason I do it, is literally because folks have asked nicely and many have continued to do it.  There were a few things 'lost' in the change-over and I have had to make my own little work-arounds as well, so I figured I can simply do it for those it helps.

It bounced me wrong at first because it felt like someone was going to not open a post because of who started it.  But I honestly think it's just a work-around for people who are missing features of the old software that just aren't there now.  So I figured my own attitude-adjustment was in order.

Exactly!  That IS exactly what I thought.  I am glad I was wrong.

Same! But I'm also kind of an airhead sometimes, so I only do it when I remember to, which isn't that often.

You might not be able to see who made the post, but if you click on it the person who started the posts, post is first, right?  So, why don't people just click on the subject?  I thought the name in ()'s was directed to that person, not from that person. LOL
