    DELETING POSTS AND THREADS

Do not delete any posts or threads going forward.

If there is an issue with a post you may ONLY *edit* the post and MUST leave it within the thread it was posted in.

allrighty. I just deleted a post by PC about the CM section...which is now gone...do you want me to put that one back?

    • Gold Top Dog

Just cause I'm dense... does this apply also to spam threads?  Should we just edit out content and leave it up? .. close it? Delete it?

:)  GOOD TO SEE YOU JAIME!!! :)

If there is something in there that is not acceptable..edit it and post why it was edited as I used too.**edited for - - - - **

    SPAM posts can be deleted

Gina, please put the post back in if you can and edit the content if needed

Good to see you too Lani...sorry I'm just really busy

    • Gold Top Dog

Okay just went to look for it and it's not there...but if it turns up I will restore and edit it.

    • Gold Top Dog

    Thanks for the clarification :)

I completely understand being busy, no worries, it happens to the best of us! hehehe ... but do post some puppy pictures (or email them, if you'd prefer) sometime, i'd loooooooooove to see all the babies. Especially the honey babies you're gonna send me.

I'll trade them for one, weim puppy...... if you go by weight, you'd be getting a helluva deal!

Gina, the post-date issue works even in deleted threads....you need to set that to a longer time frame for it to appear.

    P.S. THANK YOU Jaime.

    • Gold Top Dog

I'm guessing it's ok to delete my own when Gina points out that I've got both feet in my mouth?

How about when members ask to have a thread of theirs, or post deleted?

    • Gold Top Dog

Members can edit their own posts (provided they haven't already been red inked.  I discussed the "whole thread" issue with Jaime and if it's at the request of the OP I think it's fine.  It doesn't happen often and it preserves the whole thread, in context, without having to edit posts that would normally not be edited.

I've gotten the request to remove posts, a couple of times just mainly due to ugliness...I think it's nice to be able to do that for people...so glad to see that's still okay.

    Thanks Admin's for the input.

Typically, I NEVER deleted threads or posts, I've only edited them. The agreement for the forum allows us an out when people request posts/threads to be removed, we don't have to do it and honestly, it generally makes most of the thread seem off balance when things are missing...edit, edit, edit unless it is SPAM

    • Gold Top Dog

uglyness still does not get removed...edit it, we need to be able to track behavior and when they are deleted it takes us(Jill and I) longer to be able to research as well as it removes it from public eyes. If there is a problem with a member I want it to be obvious when they are suspended to the rest of the forum it was due to behavior, when posts are deleted you loose the ability to be transparent

    • Gold Top Dog

    Okay...so no removing...I gotcha...I think lol.

It's just that when a post is removed...the content is preserved and what they said...is there in black and white. When it's edited...nothing stops them from redoing the post and completely removing any sign we were there....and they have done just that prior.

Sometimes I would be hard pressed to recall something I edited....exactly what it said, let alone find it again in a 10 page thread. I might not even notice if the member had changed it!

I guess we could all start taking screen shots of every edit but that's a bit much I think. But members have changed our edits in past...and IMO they can also say they got edited "for nothing", and we'd have nothing in writing to support our side of things...which I admit is a bit frightening.

I do agree with Gina on having a written trail.  But, I see Jaimes point (welcome back by the way) as far as making it more obvious that folks are a PITA.

Ummm, if you want me to start taking screen shots somebuddies gonna have to tell me how.
