Just how much space should one poster take up?

... and I wonder if those of you who prefer underregulation are saddened by the increase of red ink lately.

I remember in the not so distant past when red ink was the norm in behavior, not the exception, I'm sure you remember it too!Smile

I know that I remember those days.  I'm so thankful that there has been a change in mods/admin.  Situations are handled much more effectively now.

Yeah, that's a funny thing. I *heard* about a lot of red ink that I never saw. Stick out tongue Perception is a slippery bugger. Wink

Amazing how one's actions are obscured by prejudice and nepotism, isn't it Ixa?

That's funny.  Everyone else saw it just fine.  Well, except in those moments when entire posts were deleted without reason.  It happened to one of mine.....twice, but I'm sure that you didn't have anything to do with that either....Confused

That could be true, Ed but all the same I rather like the self moderation that seems more common now. I applaud it...and I hope to see it continue.

Anyone in need a sweet candy to temper that bitter taste!? Smile

I'm a moderator on a German shepherd board, and I gotta say, no matter what you do you're going to rub someone the wrong way. It's truly a thankless job! On the one hand you've got people complaining that they are being picked on or attacked, but then others are complaining about over-moderation and censorship. You can't win, and you can't please everyone!

    Moderator speaking...

I'd ask all to remain On Topic but really? what is the topic? I'm not actually sure. That aside...

Remain civil....biting comments and Dot Parker dialogue can continue in private. Neither I nor doubtless any others are interested in the soap opera. This tit for tat exchange will end now, and if not further such posts will be removed.

    Thank you.

Ixas if you have a topic, restate it plainly, and posters can share ideas and thoughts if they wish. If you have said what you need to say then move on. If your comments refer solely to Admin then please PM them with your concerns.

Just thought I'd add my two cents here, IMO this thread may have been a better choice for a PM to a mod or an admin. I can only see one person here who seems to need that candy. ETA: sorry Gina, I guess I was posting at the same time ;0)

Thanks for your kind concern, Gina. I'd say the topic's been understood, and posters have been pretty clear in expressing their "ideas and thoughts."

    Thank you!

PS, Regarding the posting of forum issues: "For general queries or issues with the forums, please post in the relevant section "How Are We Doing"  or contact staff via PM or email."

Yes, I wrote that, and it covers all of the options.  As with all threads, we leave it to members to decide what is appropriate to post publicly, and what is more suited to private correspondence.  It is natural on a forum with a membership as large as this one that errors in that judgement will be made.

I don't understand why it is so difficult for the Admins (note plural) to give direct responses.  A yes no up down is better in my opinion than a response that conveys partial certainty and leaves the members not knowing what to do in the future.   Should this thread not been started and discussed in PM or not?

DPU...the trick to that, is only asking questions where the answer is yes, or no.

I have seldom been asked such a question in my LIFE...let alone on an internet forum of over 10000 people. There are "always" qualifiers. If you like black and white....the newspaper is probably a better choice to read, than here...because here there are almost never yes or no answers to questions involving forum conduct, forum relationships, or forum members.

I will further state that in many cases a yes or no answer, is only an answer for a few minutes...until someone decides to question it still further, harp if you will...and then we end up with 10+ pages of "yeah but..."

So again...whoever said some of the people, some of the time and all the people...none of the time...this thread is a perfect...perfect example of that. VERY well stated.

I get the message that it should not have been addressed at all. Wink From my own personal experience with approaching these more "delicate" issues here, I can say that if the OP had sent a PM, they would probably been accused of being rude (which I was), insulting, out-of-line or not cool (all of which I wasn't). This has been my experience. And as you can see, starting a thread to address the concern has turned into an accusation of "error in judgment" on the part of the OP. In other words, instead of addressing the actual concern, the poster has been made wrong by even approaching the issue.

Sometimes you just can't win. Sometimes, especially when those in power take such questions as a personal offense instead of a concern, you're just better off to see the game as it is and decide whether or not you really want to play on such a skewed field.

It's your choice. It's my choice. Smile You either play by the rules (as ill-defined or they are) and with the "teams" lined up as they are, or you don't play.

Obviously in PM's as well as threads, it depends on the language used to approach the issue.

The more reasonable a person sounds, the more reasonable their argument sounds, whether you agree with it or not.  Goes for just about everyone/everything in life.

Carla, you seem very unhappy and I am sorry for that. It's also unfortunate that you feel the need to bring personal correspondence into a public arena, but it's not totally unexpected.

I suspect this juicy gossip is just what this thread needed to go yet another 10 pages...whoo hoo!
