Could this have anything to do with it?

As one who lurks but rarely posts, allow me this observation.  I am from the old school...idog was for me a dominating resourceful place when I barely managed to contain a fearful aggressive rescue named Gypsy.  Pre-National Geographic channel, this board and its discourse guided me.  It saved a dog and her owner. Archives became my library of "real world" endeavors and lifelong links that will be forwarded forever.

I never lose sight of the fact that management/training/behavioral measures must always be stipulated, re-hashed, re-worked and re-defined.  I am on my second pound hound with varying issues and he responds very differently from my first.

Please allow for due discourse, unfettered, appropriately framed.

A balance of ideas suggests that posters can contribute without suggesting that one proposal outdoes the other as it allows for the readers to decide on merit/authentication alone.  Ten years later- and still in training, this is what has worked for us!

not a guitar

Maybe just one guitar, playing in rhythm to round out the tones. It wasn't till "rock and roll" that the guitar became a lead or solo instrument. And that permutation came out of southern blues and gospel, with it's question and answer style of composition. I'll still sneak in a few juicy riffs, here and there.

Pnhounds--you've stated this far better than I ever have! Thank you. Let the readers decide. Absolutely. When a handful of people are redded out, time and time again, it sends a message.

The mods should be more consistent in their definition of what rule breakage really is. Seems to me it's a practice of interpretation and action left up to individuals and not to a small group when, in fact, we have a small group of moderators on this board. I'm not sure that discussion among the moderators has been going on, but I sure hope it can start now.

Thanks for an insightful post--and glad to hear you're on your second dog!

By far that is the best post in this entire section.  Thank you for stating your point eloquently.  I appreciate this ;point of view from one that, as you stated yourself, mostly lurks and reads archives.

I wonder since the "best post" was mentioned, if it would be appropiate to mention the worst.

Pndhounds, excellent post and I was wondering when you would come down from the top of my monitor.

Finding the right balance can not be created by the Admin and Mods alone.  As I tried to point out in my last on topic post, members have to participate and be committed to recognize and take serious what others perceive as inappropiate.

I stand corrected when it was pointed out to me that Count Basie always had a single guitar in the background as a staple in his band.

You know, I could be way wrong here, but my impression of Anne is, she is not a spring chicken.  She has been around the block a time or two and certainly is not overly sensitive.  Her hide is pretty thick.  Whether you agree with her or not, she has a certain degree of expertise and a perspective on training and raising dogs in general, that is valuable to the board.

Kelly, due respect, but if Anne even thinks she is being targeted or silenced, you've got a problem with the board.  Because you run this board, it is your pregoative to ignore that fact or even to deny it exixts, but doing so doesn't diminish it.

Checking in quick here - lots of good points were made, but this one stuck out since it was addressed directly to me.

Billy, did you read my first post? Where it showed what Anne said, and my proposal for rewording? Anne is a smart woman, full of knowledge and experience. As I said in my first post, I even PMd her for direction when I picked up my puppy a few weeks ago. She is the only member I contacted for training advice.

As you said, she has a tough skin. Which is not a bad thing, but sometimes (like the title of that post in my first note here), she is abrasive. Anne and I have spoken privately before, on several occasions, while I personally was modding the training section.

All I'm asking is for everyone to be polite. I think that's all every moderator, and most members want. Is that too much to ask?

Since you brought it up [;)], I assume you mean this:

quote: Here's the place for everyone who gets censored on the CM threads when you try to make sensible arguments against rolling a dog, or "putting it on its side".

I don't see anything wrong with that. To me, that comment seems to be attacking AN IDEA rather than attacking a PERSON.  Your wording, I admit, might be a tad more civil, but are our moderators here really THAT sensitive?

?????

Let me help you, Dave.  You were baiting Ed.  Does that refresh your memory a little?  One time might be a typo.  Two times is deliberate.

Our mods aren't that sensitive, but some members are. And, it's not that hard being polite, is it?
• Gold Top Dog
I don't have a problem being polite but then, I am kind and gentle.  Anne, OTOH, is REALLY mean.  [:D]
