Please?!?! NO more sections!!!

training could be summed up into puppy, clicker, and CM; behavior could all be one; dogs needing homes and people looking for dogs could be one...

I am sorry you feel that it is difficult to get through all the sections, I think you will be able to pick up on it pretty quickly and most of us only subsribe to specific areas. 
 
AS far as your above comment regarding clicker and CM discussions.... shall I point you in the directions of the 100's of post GONE BAD because of so much conflict over different training philosophies??[]      Honestly... the CM section only started several months ago after too many threads were closed due to debate so many of us on here requested a seperate section for these discussion so they didn't turn into attacks.  We actually only got the clicker section a few days ago and many of us are so excited we don't know what to do with ourselves!!
 
I hope that you will find lots of valuable information here and that you will be able to figure the layout a bit better

Thanks for the welcome!! I've been lurking for a long time and kept waiting for it to get easie, but apparently I'm just not as good as you guys [&:]

Oh and I totally understand about training - I was saying that I don't see the need for six sections - it could be broken up into 1) puppy 2) clicker 3) CM. CM absolutely needs to be its own thing - that's some hot stuff there [8D]

LOL!! well just ask any of us if you need help or have questions. I usually check what comes into my email first since this lists posts in my subscription areas... then I do like Xebby said and go into the posts since last visit section.

Yes, actually the training area in general as well as the nutrition threads might keep you entertained on days you are bored[]   Lots of passionate people on these threads BUT tons of great learning!![]

Welcome Gizmo! There's NO WAY I have the time to wade through all the sections. Like Xebby, I by pass the main menu. I scroll right to the bpttom amd click on TODAYS POSTS. The only time I ever use the main menu is when I start a new thread. Hope this helps!

Welcome, Gizmo. Yes, there are a lot of sections - but you don't have to visit each one if the  main topic is something you're not particularly concerned with, like breeding, pregnancy, etc.  Sometimes I check them out because little bits of information stick in my mind and I might be able to pass them on to someone I meet. I've learned some very good reasons why I should never let a dog breed [] and an amazing amount about nutrition. Some days I wade through everything under *health* and other days I just hit GQ&A, A&E and NDR.

I actually agree with Gizmo. I feel that a lot of the sections could be combined, also so that the posts in less-visited sections would receive more traffic and for easier browsing. Plus, it can get a little confusing where to post what sometimes. Don't get me wrong, this is a great forum, but I agree that there are a bunch of sections, particularly in the health area, that can be combined.

I don't get the point of Chemicals and Environmental Influences having a section of it's own.  That puzzles me.  Surely it doesn't get enough posts or enough traffic to warrant it. 

How about the Dog Events that had maybe 20 threads total - now it has 6 sub-sections. [8|]

I agree that some consolidation would be helpful here. What if you have a puppy with an infection from an injury? It could go in at least four of the health sections... A puppy that needs behavior help? It could go in at least three of the training sections or three of the behavior ones...

I personally never understood why there was a ferret section instead of a 'other pets' or 'small animals' section.

I think the clicker section is a great idea, its a world of training on its own.  And I can see how the CM area is necessary (unfortunately).  But surely there could be one section called Training and Behaviour, divided into CM, Clickers, Puppies/crates/housetraining, Obedience/sports&work, Problems (which surely incorporates Acting out and aggression?) and possibly Everything Else.  That's one section divided into 5 or 6 sub sections, rather than 2 sections divided into 10. ?????
 
Gen. Q&A and Anything and Everything  are weird, they both get the same kind of posts.... They could be just one area called General Chat maybe?
 
Dogs needing homes and People Looking for dogs...... why not one section combining the two?
 
I think the suggestions re Breed & neuter, Ferret Central and Recipes are good but would consolidating the section just be too much work....?
