Controversy and debate is a good thing, it keeps people thinking of other alternatives and they learn. The bigger issue with the CM debates was that the members were attacking each other on what their methods were. That is not learning or sharing.
Although I have heard much discussion on CM's techniques, his background and his legal status I have never watched his show, read his book etc. I feel he has brought training out in the open as has every other trainer who has had a TV spot which is a good thing, we NEED more trained dogs as well as more EDUCATED owners and if he is doing that and prompting people to see beyond a specific "Breed" of dog and understand that training is the bigger issue well cudos to him.
Many times over you will find that I have said and will continue to say that every dog needs a different level of training, what works for one won't always work for another which is why it IS so important for all levels of training to be talked about in all training threads so that the options can be explored. The attacking/abusive/name calling behavior needed to stop, be it from an area created, suspension or warnings, I don't know. I'm just happy to see better "behavior" through our members.
