It might sound shocking to some of you, but I come here to socialise with like-minded people and possibly even help a few people if I can. I don't come here to violate rules. If I write something and it seems "off" when I re-read it, I delete, or re-word. So if I have posted something, the VAST majority of the time, in my eyes its "OK". If there IS something wrong with it, I would like to be told what and given a chance to edit it. Sometimes you dont always realise how it might have come across to someone else. I don't find having forum rules quoted, either via PM or in the middle of a thread, particularly helpful. If I already knew how something violated that rule I wouldn't have posted it.
I have been contacted by mods before and given the chance to go back and edit myself. I had no problem with doing that. But recently I haven't been given that opportunity. I had no idea what was wrong with my post. It was just deleted. I have asked the moderator to tell me what was wrong with it as it would be nice to know. But even then, it would have been nice to go back and adjust it myself, as I have been allowed to do in the past.
Does anyone else think we should have the chance to self-edit? (Barring spamming, swearing, namecalling etc.) I just dont get why I was allowed to self-edit BEFORE, but not now. Have the rules/procedures changed or is it just different moderation styles?
