((SHUDDERS)) that house gives me the creeps!!!!!!  Yick!!!

On top of that, she's been fat for as long as I've seen photos.  If she's 15 lbs, then I am!!  .... Nikki is 15lbs and though she was 12-13 lbs at her best weight at 2'ish, is now comfortable at 15lbs (at 5.5), and is where I'll keep her, a little thicker with maturity, but in great shape, and she is *tiny* short little legs. If Sandy is 15lbs I'll eat my shoe... that bitch is a obese.  Good answer Paige, I can't say anything cause everytime she posts I say something confrontational, and allow me to assure you I wouldn't be able to temper this post any better :)

LOL I thought something similar - I have no idea how much small dogs weigh but that looks like 30lbs to me!

I have felt Nikki at 15lbs - she is NOT fat.

She must be thinking 15 kilograms - because that would be about 33lbs... which seems about right for that porker.

Now, some people may look at Gracie and think she is too slim, but she's in a normal/healthy range.  I'd like to add a little more to her, but she self-regulates whatever she eats.  I increase the portion, she leaves that much leftover in her bowl.  I increase the calories, she leaves what I guess is about that much.  Trying to stop her activity is an act in futility.  so.

Alright, I need to vent.  I'm sorry that Liesje is sick.  However, HER dog is lost, but staying close enough to be sighted repeatedly in the area.  She has enough training cohorts to ask to group-up and canvass the area with Lies in the middle - STAYING PUT SO THE DAMNED DOG CAN FIND HER SCENT AND FOLLOW IT TO HER!  But she's not.

Second, the fact that Anne is pulling a dog from a shelter in Georgia, rather than taking any one of the hundreds here in New England is really pissing me off.  It's not like she knows the temperament of this dog and fell in love.  She went looking, outside New England, saw a dog that looks like her recently deceased dog, and has decided to, essentially, import it to NE.

     Amen!!

I don't understand how shutzhund dogs can't track another dog?!  Aren't they given a scent article and put them at the place Kenya was last seen....? I've used Logan to find Nikki before!   If this was Nikki, even if I hadn't tried it before, I'd put a harness on Logan and get him out there..... even if it didn't work, I would most certainly try!!!!  I don't get her almost lackadaisical attitude about it. Absolutely baffling!!!

Anne.... ya know, I can't say much about it, I helped get a dog from Washington to Connecticut (rescue) I think when a dog "speaks to you" it speaks to you regardless of locale.

Yes, but did you go looking for that dog to bring into your own life?  Or was it one you met in person and fell for?

As for Lies, I guess I'm just a little annoyed that she seems to think she's the SchH guru, and I wanted to point out that - well, none of your dogs, or the dogs in your club, are well-trained enough to take an old scent and follow it.  Not even any of your police friends.  Tells me their SchH work is likely focused on the spectacle of sport performance, and not execution.  All about keeping the nose into the footprint and LOOKING like they're following a track, when really they're following the set patterns rather than truly tracking.  Highly trained SchH should be able to, with any real experience.. according to my SchH friend.  But I am no expert.

Meanwhile, I've given up caring about what the hell she does with her dogs, because I don't think she'd harm them.  My interest ends there, from now on.

Apparently, some SchH folks wouldn't want to ruin their sport performance w/an uncontrolled "track".  Barf

I figured that was it.... I just knew she was worried about ruining her dog.  It makes me want to kick her.  I mean, if she really, really loved Kenya she'd do it.

Audi, one of Logan's pups, has been trained to track but he's still a baby.  So, definitely not proofed, but well on the road.  A farmer that Audi's family knows was having a problem with a bear killing his livestock..... they happened to be out there for the day and Danny offered to try Audi out on a track.  That 7 month old puppy tracked the bear (on a harness and line with the both Danny and the farmer with loaded riffles!!) first time out.  Dogs are amazing, you cannot tell me that Nikon wouldn't know what "Find Kenya" meant.

I'm so irritated that no one is calling her out on any of this... she didn't reply to my insinuation of it, either. I guess what would it help?

Now, she's going to get another male GSD, but it doesn't matter if he gets along with her current pack because she has "other plans" for him.  I get that her dogs are hobby dogs, but she is now convinced she's God's gift to Schutzhund, like you said.  I am so dumbfounded by her lack of concern ....

very briefly - the whole Lies thing is appalling and flat out strange to me - I never considered she was afraid to 'ruin' Nikon.  Heck one of our daily problems is Bugsy tracking one of his buddies, my goodness if he gets the scent of one of a couple of 'friends' he's on it like white on rice (with me in tow, which is the problem Wink)

As for Anne - I'm totally 'whatever'.  There are so many dogs needing homes that any dog that is taken in to a good home is lucky.  The South euthanizes more dogs than other areas so may be she looked down here for that reason.  'We' ship lots of dogs north - usually pups.  'We'= NC.

Lani put me on to a gsp that is very Bugsy-like and I would adopt him in a heartbeat over any of the dogs I have seen in rescue in my own immediate area so I suppose I agree that a certain dog can speak to you purely through a photo.

BTW Lani I haven't heard anything back from the message I sent via FB Sad

I see that as different.  Anne is a professional trainer.  She knows the problems that are becoming commonplace because of these transport situations.  They are impacting her own clients and friends.  The intention is good, the rippling consequences are not.  She knows this, especially being in MA.  But she's supporting it.  I hold her to a different standard as a professional trainer, but she proves again and again that she's a dog owner.

Lies... well, I bet this guilts her into keeping Kenya for a few more weeks, then shipping her off to someone else, particularly since her spookiness will add the anxiety into her pack that she doesn't need with yet another male in the house.  I am so unimpressed as to be disgusted, except that I can't care enough.  I have real dogs in my immediate vicinity who need my help, attention, training, etc.  Tomorrow is competition prep class.
