    Hey Paige

     http://forum.dog.com/forums/t/103009.aspx

Amanda says she had Cher cropped on Monday -- yet those ears are standing up amazingly well, and look very well healed........ I don't know much about cropping, but this sounds fishy to me.  I mean, how long did Megan have Josie's ears taped?  Like 4-6 weeks I'd say, no?  Also, isn't it late to be getting cropped?

    Seems very odd to me.

    Well, two things.

First, when I saw her siggie, the right hand picture, those natural ears are much more erect than G's ever were - so, I knew that she would have an easier time of standing up, since such a major part of them already wanted to stand.

Second, Amanda did say her vet had some technique to get them to posted without putting something inside of her ears (to mitigate the ear infection aspect).  I have no idea what the technique would be, but I've heard of using breathe-right strips.  I've watched the video a couple of times and I can't see any on the interior or exterior of the ears, although I've paused it several times to try to see something on the backside of her right ear.

All that being said - unless there are breathe right strips, or she had inserts done (explain later) it's sorta questionable that the tips are standing so well already.  The only other thing I can think of is that if you look at her last video, those ears could easily have been cropped in such a way that they would stand so well without movement.  But for me, it's the tips lack of movement as she runs that is the tip-off (pardon the pun) to me. Granted, she's excitedly following a toy, which will pull the ears up to high erect, but it's the tips, man!

G's were droopy for 2 days before we started posting - the vet wanted to get them air first.  She was 13/14 weeks at the time.  Amanda says Cher is estimated to be 19/20 weeks, but she thinks that's off.  So, at best, she could be 15 weeks - I have a hard time believing a vet would be wrong by more than a month.   The video is so grainy that I can't even tell if there are stitches in her ears, but Amanda did say they were laser cauterized, so I am guessing that means stitches were not necessary?

As for the inserts, they are, essentially, doggie plastic surgery.  They typically do it when a pup's (or dog's) ears have proven they won't stand on their own.  They put plastic tabbie things into the ears to keep the tips stiff.  They'll never naturally relax, since there's plastic holding them out/stiff.  I have no idea if a conformation judge would notice this, or if it's generally accepted or frowned upon in the ring, but I know it's done.  Perhaps Amanda pre-emptively had this done.  You'd be able to feel them inside the ears, like flat hard things as you ran your fingers along her ear leathers.

The tips seem way too errect, to me, too. I was watching for them when she was bouncing around... at shows I've seen year old dogs with tips that do a lot more flopping than that just gaiting around the ring. I do know show crops are longer, but still......... i'm very misstrustful.

You're right, show crops will def bounce around more at the tips, but Cher has a similar crop to G's.  I have a pic of G after 9 or 10 weeks of posting, in between postings, and the one that still folds a bit when she's exhausted is flopped over.  I even have pics of G 2 days after her crop, and her ears were totally flopped over.  From Monday to Friday that dog's ears look that good?  Really?

I went ahead and asked. No response yet...

Nice!! LOL  It'll be interesting to see what she has to say!  Some sort of BS, no doubt.  I don't get her... or why she has to lie all the time?

I specifically chose the word "incredible" when referring to the vet's handiwork....Hmm

LOL -- I noticed that and applaud your choice of wording :)  I haven't check recently... but I noticed earlier, no reply!!

    No response even still...

I think she's off her medication, because she's teary much more than ever, and she's stealing dogs.  I am pissed about her neighbor's dog she stole to have neutered, but she already knows it's wrong.... there's nothing to say to her.

I doubt there is a dog involved.... so, we can hope anyway.  And off her meds, I'd say YES!! And add, is she ever ON any?! She's a crazy customer that one!!

I don't expect her comment to get edited... I just needed to "report abuse" in even an imaginary format.  I will consider that a cyber-psycho dog that doesn't exist.  She just sucks how much she lies.  She's gotten better over the years, which is astonishing considering the amount of BS she slings around here.

Hah!! So true!! I know we can't be the only ones wise to this.... but, most days it sure does seem so.
