    New Member flood, watch out

Just a heads up that I'd been waiting to approve some IDs because they looked suspicious, and I didn't want to approve them while the forum didn't have better coverage (with Lani traveling, me being PC-less over the weekend.)  So, I just approved a few that I can tell have their own websites, so please keep an eye out for spammers - warn or ban at will.  A few that caught my eye are:

Dogconnections - has a website called happydogconnections

Mafiapits - sells blue pit bull puppies from their website

peta sams - might not sell anything, but might be a spammer

darambula1028 - his/her email is boobz_10_28, so this might be a joker - I'll be looking for nonsense tags in their profiles.

Not saying they are GOING to do anything, and I think we have to allow people the chance to log in, ask questions, whatever.  But if they advertise or spam, kill it.  :)

    Gracias!

Tom Grady just joined, had a polite intro post, which includes a link to his blog/writings for a newspaper (in your area-ish, I think, Karen.)  I sent him a PM to say his post is ok by me, but to avoid posting a link to his blog in any of his future posts.  Does that work for you guys?  I'm using this (or a variation of it) for anyone I think needs a pre-emptive "make sure you fly right" - particularly this new guy geronimo from Bulgaria.

    Hello and welcome to Dog.community!

Please be sure to read and understand our Forum Rules here: http://forum.dog.com/forums/t/98619.aspx.  Your link to your website can remain in your profile, but should not be posted in your signature or in any future post entries.  We are very aware of advertising, spam, search engine tags, etc, and we will edit or delete posts and/or ban accounts/profiles of those who violate these rules.  Your introductory post is fine by me, but please be sure the website link isn't included in every signed post.  Otherwise, members will start reporting it as spam or advertising for profit.

Best wishes, and if you have any questions, please contact a Moderator.

Anne tried to spank him for it.  I explained a bit to him that we felt it was ok, and I deliberately posted in his thread to give the flag that nobody needs to report this dude - lest our Spam Alert Queen, Glenda, try to AR him.

Edit to add: Gina's take on Corinthian's name cracked me up....

"ETA: BTW...love the name. I am SO seeing the late, great Ricardo Montalban in my head right now trying to extoll the virtues of "Rrrreal Corinthian Leather". He was so awesome!"

    • Gold Top Dog

I liked that, too.  I was happy she wasn't feeding the troll.  Her/his argument is very weak and obviously just for the sake of argument.

Thanks for stopping Spam Queen.... she wants to be mod so bad, it may have actually caused her an infection.

Didya notice that luvntzus is back?

    • Gold Top Dog

Yes -- and I got a PM wanting us to Delete her thread about wanting to breed dogs.  She said, and I quote:

You have received a new Private Message from Luvntzus

    Subject: Help please?

Hi, I was wondering if you could delete a specific thread of mine. I kind of went off the deep end and I deleted my posts, but I would be REALLY appreciative if the whole thing could be erased. Please let me know if you can help me out. The thread is:

    Thanks!

(((sighs))) What do you guys think?  Personally I'm inclined to say NO.  But, I'm not sure if that's me being a bitch, or if it's because that is truly what our policy is and it's a convenient scape goat. lol

or if it's because that is truly what our policy is and it's a convenient scape goat. lol

Really, she's tried to use that to her advantage in the past and ... I never quite understood why it happened if none of the posts were against the rules.  (Some of the Billy things I could see needing to go away...)  Sometimes consequences are something you have to deal with.  She only wants it hidden because she doesn't want to think about it and doesn't want it searchable.  Doesn't make it untrue.

Explain a circumstance to me when we would delete an entire thread that did not violate rules.  Posting pics of someone else's kids - yep, I could see that being a privacy thing and would have been removed, because it violated rules.  Other privacy/tracking things I could see removing (some lurker/stalker finding her here and posting stuff - but, again, that would be a violation of rules and would be edited for that reason.)  I'm not trying to punish her, but I think she's using our forum for only what she wants - the happy-happy-joy-joys of people congratulating her on her new purchases and nothing negative reflected back to her.  For all the complaints about enabling, I don't think we'd have a leg to stand on if that was deleted.  Thoughts?

     I agree.

I feel like she made an *** of herself... she wants to take way the ability of those to go back and find the thread.  A remove the evidence-type thing.

I agree, it's against the policies weve been given.

I wish she'd just go... and STAY gone.

Now the fun part - how do you word your response...
To quote the person she called "sneaky" in the thread: "In regard to unsolicited advice, if you post on a public forum, then anything you post is fodder for opinion."
    • Gold Top Dog

    Nice!

She asks "Can you help me?"  and the reply is: "No. We can't.  Try another board if you think you've reached this one in error."

    hehehehe :o)

I was just kidding -- I'm thinking we'll just have to say our policy is no deletion of threads.  This is a policy handed down by Dog.com unless of extreme extenuating circumstances, which this does not qualify.  I'm sorry.

sorry missed this discussion earlier - I agree no way we delete it.

    Lani I think this works

let me know I'll be around now tonight and I can send it to her

You know, really, it makes me wonder how she justifies this in her mind.  I want her to point out what warrants getting the thread deleted. lol  It's just laughable now.
