Right now it seems that MLS is not common...not nearly like say Collie Eye Anomaly where carriers are actually NEEDED to avoid genetic bottlenecking and inbreeding, etc. The choice of nomal eyed is so small that it's simply not feasible.
With this NOT being common no...I would not use a carrier in a breeding I did. HOWEVER I would not fault anyone else that chose to PROVIDING they swab all the get and know their deal before placing them and TELL the folks rec'ing the dogs...what's what. You can swab pups that are in theory only weeks old..so there's never a reason for a puppy to go out "unknown"...I mean what's $50 per pup for that kind of certainty?
Some people probably won't test...or if they do...they won't tell. Until breeders start asking others, advertising their MLS status on their dogs..REQUIRING it to become a standard thing...some simply won't bother. I don't plan on using a stud or bitch in future without knowing....I'll even roll the $50 into the stud fee LOL.
