My own two cents:  If it really bothers anyone that much that they feel the need to keep poking and prodding moderators and admin about it, then they need to take a break.  Unplug the computer and go camping, take a walk, get out of the house. 

Carping, bickering, passive aggressiveness, sniping, nitpicking,  feigning ignorance, double entendre, and constantly referencing offending posts really negates any positive input that one could have on this board. 

My grandmother was a tough old gal.  She survived the depression, the dust bowl, and a couple of fires that destroyed all her possessions.  She had varicose veins that hurt her so bad that standing was a chore.  She complained less in the time I knew her than some of the members of this board have done on this single thread.   I don't understand what this is about.  Post your ideas and express yourself to the best of your ability-if you get edited politely PM the admin and ask why.  Then DON'T DO IT AGAIN unless you want to be edited again. 

As far as I know none of the moderators are getting paid for their work.  They were and are members that post as well.  It's a shame to see them being hassled when there are much better ways for them and us to spend our time.

I think Ed is right.  The hassling is inappropriate, and just my two cents, but when you feel like you have to prod a mod, perhaps you are not on a board that meets your expectations and you should find another one, or perhaps stick to the sections that don't get you so riled up.  Some people enjoy a good debate, or even the occasional tussle, but it's when it becomes personal, or a freaking crusade to have the mods back you so that they won't be backing someone with whom you disagree, that it gets childish.  Heck, there are some very open boards with almost no moderation that survive just fine.  But, I think it's because the members know there's no point trying to pit the mods against anyone just based on whether they like positive training or alpha rolling or raw food or kibble.  Sometimes less is more.

Oh for goodness sakes.  Why don't we just take off the gloves here?  BOTH warnings are ones that I issued.  And I failed to answer ONE pm because I was beginning to feel battered by a certain group of people and challenged each and EVERY time I did anything or said anything.

Let me tell you something folks, when you send a pm to someone who is being disrespectful, etc, and get a tirade back it gets old really fast.  And especially when its always the very same folks doing the battering.  The more people are pushed, the more they tend to resist.  Human nature.

But, I'm not modding anymore.  Problem solved.  So why can't we move on?

 this is my take on the open forum warnings that occur in threads from time to time....

where i live, the police sometimes put these digital signs out that list your travelling speed as you approach them. the posted speed limit is above your travelling speed. so if you are the sole car approaching the sign, you know 100% whether or not you are speeding. this is kind of a little fyi for the motorist. you may not get a ticket this time, but travel this road speeding often enough and you will. however, if you are on a multi-lane road with more than one car approaching the sign, who is the sign catching? you can look at your own speedometer and determine if it is you or not. if not, you have no idea which of the other cars is speeding, but why does it matter to you so long as you arent the one speeding?

when i see a warning in a thread, i know if it applies to me. occassionally, i might re-read my post and think... "does this apply to me?" i think it you have to question your post, then assume that it does apply to you.

there was a time when i felt that idog was being moderated unfairly and too strictly. quess what, i found another forum to occupy my free time. i think the moderation of this forum has improved in the past few months. otherwise i wouldnt have come back. as far as i know, no one is being forced to be here. do a google search, there are about 1 billion other dog forums out there.

*referencing previously deleted content* That was a felt insult when Amstaffy directed the implied mental deficiency at me.  The ambiguity or the save face portion is for others to see the statement as having some levity in it.  The right thing to do is extend an apology. 

 Please don't hold your breath waiting for an apology.  I'd hate for you to pass out & bump your head. Again...

It's unfortunate to see all this bickering.  Seems many are feeding on it.  I'd post a picture of a train wreck but that's been done before.

Years ago, the rule was if a post was inappropriate, it was deleted.  Editing of posts in any form, in my opinion, will always lead to problems.  If enough messages in a thread were inappropriate, then the thread was deleted.  If a member continued doing the same, the account was disabled or deleted.  No open discussion on the reasons why -- just move on.

When I left in 2004, i-dog was receiving about 800-1000 posts a day (BTW,  Where did all the archives go?).  That level was sustained pretty well until the introduction of this new format.  Now it's about 400-500 a day.  One moderator should be able to handle this just fine...  More moderators = more problems.  "Red Ink" me all you want.

IMHO, this is the best post on the thread.  I really don't understand why this is so difficult for some to grasp.
