      Unpleasantness

       glenmar:
My gosh, why the unpleasantness here?

Hi. I'm not sure what the problem is with a little unpleasantness. It's human. Sometimes people get a little upset or defensive. I'm not sure why everything is expected to flow with absolute harmony. That's not realistic. I've even seen you be less-than-sweetness-and-light at times. But if you would give people just an inch on that leash you guys seem to be jerking on lately, you just might find that people are able and willing to work through these things on their own.

Some unsolicited advice - Give us some credit and loosen the leash just a tad. Wink

And by the way, I'm still waiting to hear what section of the TOS I was edited for here. If sarcasm is against the TOS, I think it should be in writing. I didn't attack anyone nor did I call anyone a name or offend anyone. I used sarcasm to make a point.

If I sound a little "unpleasant", it's because I feel I've been treated unfairly. It doesn't seem that the board is being moderated to any specific standard (the TOS). Instead, it seems that the personal opinions of the moderators are driving the opinions being edited. It seems that it's fine for "certain people" to get sarcastic but for others, the red ink flies.

I'm terribly disappointed at the way things are swinging lately. And something tells me I might as well be complaining to Jaia about it...

      Re: Unpleasantness

Carla, I'm sorry you feel that way.

My post, for what it is worth, was not directed at you.

Guys, I've just about had it with the entitled attitude of these people.  I ONLY took the word PISSED out of Donna's post and I did not say a word about her little tirade.  Here's more

I know it wasn't directed at me. I'm not just speaking for me. I'm speaking for equal treatment. For those of us who just want to show a bit of emotion at times without getting the collar yanked on. But I can see I shouldn't have wasted my time. Or yours. Sorry.

I've had it too.  And Carla hasn't been around long enough to know what a fiasco the TOS actually turned out to be...and we haven't been saying "your post breaks the TOS" for a couple of months now.

You know though, what gets edited IS to some extent dependent on our whims.  And we were all picked as mods because our whims are, on the whole, pretty good.  No one would get it right all the time...no one.

With a few exceptions, our members are adults.  Part of being an adult is taking criticism on the chin an dealing with it.

If hard pressed, I don't suppose I could GIVE her an appliciable TOS that she violated by inferring that Anne is a racist.
What the heck do I say?  Nice matters?

Yes, edits are based on our whims....actually, more on our judgement and, again, I'm danged careful not to have any friends or enemies when I moderate.  No matter how much I like or dislike someone, I always strive to be fair....and the ones I dislike probably get more slack than the ones that do.

Carla's gripe is that I didn't email her FIRST and give her the chance to edit her post herself.  I don't always have time for that and in a CM thread, not going to TAKE time and let the pot boil over.
