Ha! I think that's hilarious!  You know if she admitted that maybe, once or twice, her dogs may have possibly toileted on their lawn, then she was doing it constantly.  And why would you continue to let your dogs go anywhere near a house where the owner is bellowing at you to get off the lawn???  We used to have a neighbor who would walk their dog, never letting it toilet in her own yard, but let it leave steaming, giant piles on the front lawn of every neighbor on the street on a daily basis!  Sometimes while she stood there chatting with you!  It was ridiculous. 

We live on a corner and have a beautiful lawn with a giant tree. It's very park-like and people have been known to stop and stand there while their dog take a poop. My kitchen window looks over the corner lawn area and I actually watched a woman walk her dog up the lawn to our walkway like she wasn't even on my property. I was dumbfounded.  We put up a sign on the fence with a squatting dog and a line drawn across it and it helped a little.

I would never dream of just stopping and letting my dogs do their business in someone's yard. Crazy!!

I've got a tree out the front of my home, where a couple of dog owners don't pickup their dogs poo. Maybe it's time I tacked a sign to the tree, and if they still don't pickup their dogs poo I might start keeping my camera handy.

Maybe the sign should come with a warning: "Video of your dog pooping on my yard is being recorded and will be broadcast on YouTube.  The act of pooping on the yard is evidence of consent to this taping."

I never ever let Apollo walk, poop, or pee on people's private property. When people do it to my parents I know how frustrating that can be. If I ever did get a complaint I probably wouldn't bring him back to that spot again.

OT, short story...There was this lady who used to walk her terrier/mix up and down our street everday. She used to let the dog crap on our lawn and our neighbors lawn all the time and never cleaned it up. We all (my family and neighbors) requested she either clean it up or keep the dog off our lawn. She did neither. Our neighbor (super snotty btw) did call the cops. The lady ended up keeping her dog off our lawns but let the dog poop on the sidewalk. Ugh....

Me neither!  And even if you were walking down the sidewalk and the dog just really had to stop and go, you'd be on the very edge of the yard where the lawn meets the sidewalk so why couldn't you just pick it up and keep moving?

I think I'm going to side with the Police neighbor on this one.  That lady sounds like a stuck up brat who has too much time on her hands.  Also, I REALLY don't like that she lied to animal control saying that the neighbors "German Shepard attacked her son and poodles" when it was obviously a lie.  They talk at the end saying that small dogs can't do "damage" to a lawn (urine/***), but I don't think that's the issue.  If the guy owns the lawn, he has a right to ask anyone to keep off of it...end of story.

In our development, there are no sidewalks (who thought of that???). It's just street, a tiny curb and then our lawn. Our lawn actually slopes up from the street, so people have to stop and give their dogs time to climb up the grass, but you'd be amazed at how many do it. I probably wouldn't notice or care so much if my dogs didn't go nuts when they see or hear them

Our neighborhood residents are pretty good about not letting their dogs go to the bathroom in other's lawns.  As for myself, I make sure my dogs relieve themselves before we start a walk and carry a plastic bag with me just in case they do find the need to eliminate while on a walk (which I have never had to use).  It is just common courtesy.

wow... what a waste of energy/time hahaha... seriously. is there only ONE route you can take your dogs on? if you knew that people didnt like you walking there- common sense would say "keep away"!!

now i`ll be the first to admit that yes, my dog poops/pees on other peoples yards. yes- my dog is a dog. BUT i dont just leave it there!!!! even if i have to steal the persons plastic bag that their newspaper comes in haha (altho that IS a last resort and rare)

It doesn't matter how much damage a small dog does to a yard - if a neighbor asks you to keep off their lawn, do so. It isn't rocket science. 

 I live in an apartment and have one dog that won't poop unless she's walked for a good bit (we've tried the whole training it on cue thing and she held it for over 36 hours!), so my girls do potty on other's lawns unfortunately.  We always pick up poop of course, and we avoid yards in favor of piles of debris on the street, but there's only so much one can do. 

We've been asked to not walk on someone's grass once and it really irked me because the guy was nasty about it, but a few months later he actually went out of his way to thank me for avoiding his lawn completely.   Of course after that nice exchange I wouldn't be caught dead with my dogs on his lawn - the powers of positive reinforcement!  And then there's the woman who freaked out on me when I specifically got my dogs off her grass when I saw her pulling into the garage (I try to be discreet) and accused me of not scooping - she has her yard peed on quite frequently now (side effects of punishment lol); we still scoop.

 I have to admit I'm rather lax and don't care if neighbors don't pick up their dogs poop when walking in the neighborhood as long as they don't let their dogs walk way up in my yard.  Our neighborhood is a bit more country style with everyone having at least an acre of land.  Add to that the fact that in everyone's property there is a stretch of grass in beginning of everyone's yards that is considered a public bridle path for horses, and you certainly never see anyone scooping up their horses giant turd piles.  A little dog pile just seems to pale in comparison.  Naturally however if anyone one was complaining about such things I would make sure my dog steers clear of their yard.

Well, my neighborhood doesn't have sidewalks, and Harry prefers to walk in the grass rather than on the curb.  So, yes, if he "goes" on a walk, then it's in someone's yard, but it's right at the very edge by the curb, and I always, always, always pick it up!  I can't do anything about the peeing, though, lol.  It just doesn't bag up as nicely.   But being a boy, he prefers to lift his leg on shrubs, so it doesn't kill anyone's grass.  However, if someone specifically asked me to keep my dog off their lawn, I would most certainly keep him walking on the curb any time we passed said house.  It's just being respectful of someone else's property.  This lady was definitely fueling the fire by continuing to walk her dog on those folks' property.  It would tick me off if I asked someone to respect my property and they repeatedly and obviously purposely refused to respect my request.

Just the other day I was walking Harry and a guy was walking his dog in the opposite direction (same side of the street, but opposite direction).  A few yards ahead of me, I saw his dog stop and poop, and then, of course, the guy just left it there and kept walking towards us.  When he got to us, I pulled a baggie out of the little holder and handed it to him, saying very nicely, "I hate it when I forget to bring poo bags on walks!"  Of course, I never forget to do this, but it seemed like the most polite way to let him know it was not acceptable for him to leave it there.  He looked kinda embarrassed and went back and picked up the poo.
