Interesting sidenote to the Vick thing-HSUS

Anyone notice their Investigator John Goodwin, mentioned in many of the blurbs when H$U$ comments, is a convict himself LOL....he did house arrest/ probation for some vandalizing of fur stores. Apparently he was in ALF (describing himself as a "former member of ALF)...which is a domestic terrorist org [linkhttp://www.fbi.gov/congress/congress02/jarboe021202.htm]http://www.fbi.gov/congress/congress02/jarboe021202.htm[/link]

They've (meaning Wayne Pacelle) cleaned him up and now he's in a position of power at H$U$ and donations are paying his salary. Nice. Something to think about when those donation begging letters come to your home.

My you certainly do have it out for the HSUS it seems. Well I have and will continue to support them. Just because this fellow did something wrong at one time this doesn't necessarily mean that he is a forever criminal. Some types of crimes are certainly of a type that the people have to be very sick to have commited and I do question whether they can ever be trusted in society.  Others, however, I don't necessarily see that the crime has to stick with them their entire lives. I'm sure the HSUS felt confident that he was no longer of the mind set to be involved in questionable type of activities.

LOL...it's posted for information only ny.
Do with it what you will...flush it down the nearest loo....it's all good with me...so long as the info is available.

My police record, let me show you it.

There is most definatley such a thing as being young and stupid. While I now realize that vandalizing and the like is really not the best way to get a message across, there was a time when, if given the opportunity, I might have done so.

Though my own rap sheet is much, much more mundane than all that.

In any case...I choose not to donate. *shrug*

Perhaps I'll feel differently once they sort out where all that Katrina money went.

not the best way to get a message across,

    Btw,

Here are some of Goodwin's messages.

    J.P. Goodwin, Executive Director

"We have found that civil disobedience and direct action has been powerful in generating massive attention in our communities ... and has been very effective in traumatizing our targets."
(National Animal Rights Convention '97, June 27, 1997)

"We've started picketing outside the homes of the [department store] executives because these minks on these fur farms never get a chance to go home and relax. Those executives do not deserve a break. They do not deserve to go home and rest."
(Speech "No More Fur: Bringing the Fur Industry To Its Knees," World Congress for Animals, Washington, D.C., June 20, 1996)

"It's time for the animal rights movement to take this industry and drive the final nail into the coffin by whatever means it takes. If that means being outside the executives houses, if that means blockading their doors, whatever it takes."
(Speech "No More Fur: Bringing the Fur Industry To Its Knees," World Congress for Animals, Washington, D.C., June 20, 1996)

"My goal is the abolition of all animal agriculture."
(As quoted on AR-Views, an animal rights Internet discussion group)

"If the feed barn, and processing barns are away from the animals, and downwind, then they could be burned down. Otherwise mink releases are the only way to go."
(As quoted on AR-Views, an animal rights Internet discussion group)

That's really enlightening.   I guess some of us are more perfect than others. It's a shame that some  people will go to almost any length to bash groups that are trying to help animals.

to bash groups that are trying to help animals.

So you're saying, by my own deduction, that it's ok to commit acts of domestic terrorism and kill humans along the way to help animals?

If you want to look at it that way, then the Breeders in the anti AB1634 groups acted as terrorists too, for threatening the safety of the bills sponsor and his family.

I asked this before.  Which family members of Levine got threatened and why didn't we see any news stories about it!!!

Those are alleged events, not crimes for which anyone has been convicted, or admitted to.

You clearly do advocate violent terrorism by your last admission, no wonder we don't see eye to eye.  And this from someone that is a loose cannon with pepper spray.  Tsk.

Huge difference between alleged threats and actual crimes of violence.  Especially when there's no mention in the media of the threats.

Apparently they'd sent letters out asking for donations to help them care for the Vick dogs? The site has now been changed, as they don't actually have the dogs...lol.
