AB1634 passed assembly - on to the senate

The California Assembly passed AB1634 last night - 41 to 38.  The bill now goes to the California State Senate.
Time to cheer, then onward and upward.  :D

Needless to say, but will say it anyway,  poorly written legislation rarely has good outcomes.... So glad I dont live in CA.

assuming this bill passes, i would be interested to see statistics in a year from now showing how effective/ineffective the law actually is.

It passed by ONE vote, it's on shaky ground, with hurdles still to cross so keep those letters going! Not over til it's over!

For anyone who's interested, this is the most recent analysis done on this bill.  It's usually the best thing to read to find out what the bill really will and will not do (assuming the analysis is done well):

The vote count for yesterday's hearing isn't showing up yet, but should sometime today.  I'm told by a friend that works in the legislature that the bill isn't likely to pass in the Senate.

ETA the link for our local paper regarding the bill.  It looks like it took the entire day to get the necessary votes for it to pass (41-38).  It needed 41 votes to pass, and obviously took some arm twisting and quid pro quo deals to pass out.

Yep I heard  a lot of promises were made by whatshis name to get the 1 vote. Hardly solid standing...let's hope more lobbying will reclaim the 1 person swayed by the promises. This guy's term is up soon, so he's making promises left and right that he has no plans to keep once his term is over.

It turned my stomach and completely changed my views when I saw what politicians would do, or not do, when it came to their own agenda [:@].  Integrity becomes a rare commodity during the end of session hearings.

Yep...they're all Monica Lewinsky's in sheep's clothing when it comes right down to it...lmao.

Wow, it's amazing how you know what Assemblyman Levine's plans are.  Does he confide in you often?

No worries here, no way to inforce this.  Does CA want to risk losing citizens and business, I doubt it. [:D]

i think this is one of the main issues the people who are pro ab1634 are missing. [&:]
