This will undoubtedly spark the everlasting pitbull debate Sad

My question is... was the dog living in the pen?  Why is it such a big deal about the dog being let out?  Sounds like he had problems that they didn't address or possibly trained / bred agressiveness into the dog.

It could cause problems but I like the quote at the end from a neighbor. She stated that she never had problems with the dog and that he's well taken care of.  My questions would be: Did the child do anything to the dog to provoke the bite? Did the dog have resource guarding issues?

I've found that alot of bites with kids involved are from the kid going near food, toys ect and the dog protecting it.

Not enough information to comment.  It's always a tragedy when a child is injured by a dog and it's almost always preventable.
