    Puppy kills baby!!!

Have not seen a posting of this so hope it isn't a repeat.  An 8 week old baby in a swing in the house was supposedly killed by an 6 week old puppy WHILE 3 ADULTS were in the house and never heard a thing!  Apparently it was his 17 year old mom, his grandmother and i guess his dad.  The baby had been left "unatteneded" for "an unkonwn lenght of time" and apparently they don't even know how long he had been dead.

According to what i read, there was a pug and a black lab puppy--but later understand from other posts the puppy  was a lab mix--in the house.  However, the police say it was apparently the 6 week old puppy that killed the baby. This happened around Tulsa, OK.  One posted the story and aother posted a video from CNN, but with my dial up the vide was just to slow and I only watched a small tad of it.

Something sounds awful fishy here.  how in the world could 3 adults be in the house and a 6 week old puppy mauls and kills an 8 week baby in a swing and they never heard a thing.  That baby would have been screaming to high Heaven.  And they didn't even know how long the baby had been left unattended.  I think they had all gone somewhere and left the baby alone or was passed for some reason.  It just doesn't make a lick of sense.

i am not good at finding things, but i am sure someone here knows how to find any follow.  i think it happened this morning.  It is just to sad.  As one said on that forum, some peope should hve a license to breed as they make darn poor parents.

That is VERY odd. How did they not hear anything? What was wrong with the puppy that it would do that? With all the puppies we've had, if you just say "ow" or yelp loudly enough they realize they're hurting you and stop immediately, so I would imagine a screaming child would put the puppy off...and how did they determine which dog did it? I shudder to think...blood? All of that DOES sound very strange.

     Meth heads

Or no one wanted the baby and the puppy was an easy blame.

I saw the CNN video twice because I was in disbelief.

i DON'T KNOW IF THIS WILL WORK, BUT HERE IS COPIED AND PASTED WRITTEN NEWS STORY.

I PERSONALLY THINK THAT ALL THE ADULTS HAD LEFT HE HOUSE--MAYBE TO GO EAT, OR SHOP.  tHE BABY WAS SLEEP, THEY DIDN'T WANT TO WAKE HIM AND HAVE HIM CRYING WHILE THEY ATE OR SHOPPED, SO JUST LEFT HIM BEHIND.  OR THEY WERE ALL PASSED OUT DRUNK OR STONED  wITH MY BOSY, EVEN IN ANOTHER ROOM AND ME IN A DEAD SLEEP I WOULD HEAR THE LOWEST CALL "MOMMY"  AND AS BABIES, HAD THEY BEEN ATTACKD AND SCREAMING, I WOULD HAVE HAD HEARD THE FIRST SCREAM AND BEEN RIGHT THERE.  NO, SOMETHING IS REALLY WRONG WITH THIS.  IT WAS SUGGESTED ON ANOHTER BOARD THAT MABYE THE BABY HAD DIED AND THEY SOMEHOW GOT THE DOG/DOGS TO ATTACK IT TO COVER UP.

I would like to know why they are so sure that the other dog is not involved.  I would think that an adult dog would be far more likely to attack than a pup.

It would also be interesting to know how this puppy leaped into a baby swing (we got Jack at 10 wks and he was really clumsy) delivered multiple bites with multiple adults in the house, and mysteriously NOBODY heard a thing until it was all over.......

I personally don't believe it.  Just as everyone else said, #1 - How did they not hear anything and #2 how could a pup that size and age cause that much damage.  I hope they do a follow up after the medical examiner comes to their conclusions.

Here's another video that talks more about it: http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/us/2008/07/29/dnt.ok.puppy.kills.baby.cnn

This whole thing just bothers me, it doesn't make sense at all. If I'm exhausted and out cold, I wake up instantly the second my 3.5 week old daughter is awake. There is no way that they didn't hear anything. And on top of that why wasn't there a baby monitor on if the baby was sleeping in another room??? I just don't understand how 3 people did not hear this child being mauled. On top of that I have never in my entire life heard of a puppy, let alone a 6 week old puppy, attacking anyone. I just don't see it happening. And how do they know without a doubt the older dog wasn;t responsible?

This whole story is just sad, sad a baby died, sad the parents lost their child and sad that they put the puppy to sleep.

A couple of news reports say the puppy was 2-3 months old....but still this makes no sense to me. I can see an older pup attacking a moving baby swing and being able to reach and bite a baby in the swing, but a 2-3 month old puppy?  Could it jump into the swing without knocking the whole thing over? Could a dog that size reach the seat while standing on the floor? Did he bite the baby's lower legs and feet and the poor kid bled to death?? The news stories make it sound like the swing wasn't tipped over---so how did a puppy attack and kill a baby in an elevated swing???

A couple of news stories say the baby was left unattended in the swing for an hour to an hour and a half....it breaks my heart that the baby could have bled to death from leg wounds. I know the medical examiner is working on this and they'll report if the baby had other injuries.

I know I am being insensitive to the family's grief, but if they left an 8 week old baby alone in a swing for more than an hour and went someplace where they could not hear the child's cries then they are guilty of neglect.

    That poor baby....

And if it was a Pit Bull puppy nobody would be thinking it couldn't be possible..... Confused
