Remember, the 2008 standard mileage for servicing a charitible organization is 14 cents per mile and is a charitable deduction on the individual's tax return.

This is big time activity for those in rescues. Mostly weekend volunteer work. Depending on where you live, you may be requested to help a lot or you may have to be really quick to volunteer for a Leg. I live in the general Chicago area and have a hard time getting Legs that pass through this area. But here is a start. There are both for hire transports and volunteer transports. The for hire is sometimes just the reimbursement of gas. A lot of times these transports criss-cross, overlap, and are in parallel. Being in touch with multiple transport groups helps put together the transport plan. Oh yeah, everything happens on the Thursday and Fridays before the transports, so if you are not flexible, then it may be a very frustrating experience.
