Yeah this article is an interesting read...on many levels.

sounds like the police had no reason for being there in the first place and the first rule of using a firearm (which you would think the police would know) is you need to be in control when shooting and be aware of what is behind and in the path of your shot. I think the cop paniced and is damn lucky he did not kill someone.

I thought a good guard dog was a commodity. I can honestly say that my dogs welcome guests but if one was prowling around my house in a dark uniform with some strange object in their hands they would definitely be on guard.

We were having a BBQ one day so many people were coming in and out. Our buddy Andy came walking up with a fishermens hat on and he had a couple of wiffle ball bats in hand and Rory and Primo were a bit weary until he said something and took off his hat. I understand a cop has to protect himself but thats ridiclous!

I wonder what happened to that pit bull.

The dog didn't bite anyone..and was on it's own property. To my knowledge, from what I read...it with the family right now, where it belongs Wink

You would think that marksmenship would be something the police would be concerned about and would teach. This is a 4 year cop who should be going to the range on a regular basis and who should have received training on firing his weapon when under stress.

Mind you I am glad he missed the poor dog but it is unacceptable that he hit the kid standing 20 feet away. And if the dog was that scary why did it not attack him after he missed it?

This is the kind of guy who will kill a bystander some day and miss the criminal.

Idiot should have knocked on the front door. IMO he should be fired as I do not care to have cops running around with guns who panic and misfire at the first sign of danger.
