What if you find a dead dog?!

What if you find a dead dog?!

    Here's how it goes...

I've been walking across the fields with my dog when suddenly he started to act odd around one bush. I went over to him, to see what it is, and I found a carrion of one dog, and near it, there was a black plastic bag, and inside was another dog (although I could see only it's legs). I took my dog and immediately went away, but now I wonder if I should report it somewhere? If so, then where?

Maybe it's nothing, but there have been cases of people stealing dogs and killing them, sometimes the hunters would kill a dog if they saw it there... I know that for sure because a friend of mine lost her dog like that... So, I'm thinking, what if those dogs were somebody's pets and that person is looking for them?

Or should I just forget about all of it?

    p.s. I found them 2 days ago

I would report it, both to the police and to the nearest humane law enforcement agency.  And, I would not let my dog out of my sight in an area where people are such a-holes.  The fact that the dogs might have been strays is irrelevant - even if no one is looking for them, they died a horrible death and the person responsible should be held accountable.  Even if you find strays on your land, there are shelters to take them to - no one should be killing dogs like a one man vigilante committee.

Since there is a connection between violence to animals and violence to humans, the perp may have a screw loose.  Better the crime doesn't go unnoticed.

Call the police/ACO. There may be someone out there who is searching for a dog they will never find, Crying  This news won't bring them peace, but at least they'll know.

that's SO true.... DEFINATELY call someone about it. worst case, it's an honest mistake of someone who thought it was acceptable to dispose of their pets this way, but i like to think that if those dogs died a "normal" death, that most people would know how to respectfully take care of the bodies.

and, if it IS someone's pets, i know i would want to know what happened to my dog, to bring me some closure etc.
