    We received some horrible news today...

    Backstory:

    We received an app in the beginning of Nov from a guy whose name sounded familiar to me. I did a search and after 5 e-mails with the guy I ascertained this was the same guy who adopted "Apollo" from us in Oct 05'. I asked him where Apollo was and why he wasn't on the app...

    I FINALLY got him to respond and he said he gave the dog to his mother who is in Texas. We have been sending him letters, e-mails and calling him...no response. We involved an attorney...no response.

    I contracted my companies Private Investigator firm on Thursday to look into it. He went to one of the references house and they told him that he gave up the dog in MD. The PI then went to the Adopters house and confronted him in person. He told us that he gave up the dog 2 months ago to the Baltimore City SPCA.

    We contacted the SPCA today and figured out that he was surrendered to BARCS. Apollo was EUTHANIZED by BARCS on 5-23. The paperwork states he gave up the dog because "he was too big." He adopted him from us an adult...he was the same size he was when he adopted him!!! BARCS did not know he was our dog and since he was a Rottie (not our normal dog) they did not contact us for rescue.

    It is a VERY sad story and we all feel as if Apollo has been let down. This guy has been evading us for a good while and certainly is aware from our phone calls, letters and attorney's correspondence that he violated our contract in a BIG way.

    This guy just contacted me in early Nov so he is actively looking for another dog!!!! Please, please cross-post this to any and all other rescues and shelters in the area you know.

     What this person did makes me sick, but it makes me sicker that this forum thinks it is ok to post someone's personal phone numbers and home address. A name would have been sufficient for this purpose.

    Good point, i originally misread it, thought it was the rescue information. My bad.

    Wow.  It bothers you more that someone could post public info on a message board than it does that someone would adopt a dog and then leave it to die at a shelter?  Interesting....Hmm

     I don't give a rat's butt if his personal information shows up on every rescue site in the country.  Angry  Anyone who could do such a thing, not first try to return the dog to the rescue from whence it came, and then lie about giving it away to a safe home is a reprehensible idiot who does not deserve the pleasure of pet ownership.  I WANT to have this information so that no dog I take part in saving ends up like Apollo for no good reason.
