Hi -- this isn't my area, altho most of you know I tend to work with "sick dogs". My vet's tech called me this afternoon and they've got a special needs kitty who is just so darned adorable.
I am mega allergic to cats. But I have this HUGE soft spot for anything handicapped and I'd take her in a heartbeat if I could.
Noelle's momma was feral and had distemper while she was pregnant. She is a "CH Kitty" -- this means the part of her brain that should deal with balance issues (beyond inner ear -- it's literally a brain problem) just plain never formed right. She can't stand and walk normally.
EDITED to add: I want this to be clear -- she just plain can NOT walk right -- she can't stand or walk without wobbling and falling over all the time. There's no balance there -- she's incapable of it but can walk if she leans over onto a wall or something -- and has carpet to grip.
There is apparently a Yahoo group for "CH Kitties". (CH Kitty???)
She does follow a wall or lean onto things to stay upright.
But she needs:
1. A 1-floor home -- she would try to climb stairs and would never make it -- she'd fall and get hurt.
2. A carpet is a must -- she can have some stability on carpeting but slippery floors just totally defeat her.
My awesome vet has spayed her and has done all the typical stuff -- she's free of feline AIDs and not FIP positive. My vets tech is available at usdi62@yahoo.com for any questions.
She's not completely white - there is a small grey spot at the top of her head.
I honestly don't know how she is with dogs, however Dr. B has a house-dog at the clinic so I'm sure she's been exposed to them. And if it's needed, I will take my dogs who are cat friendly up there if need be to help anyone.
For this particular case I would help transport if need be. gosh I wish I wasn't allergic -- my husband and I have both fallen in love with just her picture.
