    CVMA proposes amendments

Interesting....lol. They are picking away and away at this bill they so staunchly supported? I wonder why that is....might it be because their memebership did not appreciate themselves being spoken FOR instead of spoken to, when the org was deciding what they'd do about the bill? It will also be interesting to see if any of these even make it into the bill....

The for's should be worried about how quickly this org and the bill author are willing to make deals and promises to pick further away at the bill just to get it passed. Soon the bill will have so many amendments it won't be much of a deterrent at all...or very enforceable...if it even was to begin with. Soon it seems it will be a lot of words, with no real impact...

"The following changes are in the process of being inserted into AB-1634.
a.. Change the spay/neuter age to 6 months. Any veterinarian can provide a letter exempting a dog or cat for an additional 3 months and may write a second letter for an additional 3 month exemption (up to 1 year of age.)
b.. Add an exemption for any owner to purchase an intact permit that allows them to own an intact dog or cat. Any dog or cat that qualifies under this exemption would be limited to one litter per year.
c.. Allow any purebred dog or cat to qualify for an intact permit. The current language requiring purebred dogs or cats to participate in a show or competition, be in training to compete, or to have earned a title would be removed.
d.. Add language that clearly states that veterinarians will not be required to report the spay/neuter status of dogs and cats under their care, or enforce the provisions of this bill."

If you are at all familiar with how laws are enacted in this country, you would know that there are always many compromises and things changed in the final version prior to it's being signed into law. Some will be added and some won't. Not surprising at all, in fact, it is to be expected.

Are those changes you mentioned actually in the process of being inserted into AB-1634?

Since this Bill started I've heard heaps of different things, particularly so from opposition sources and who I've noticed seem to spread around some disinformation, but then again this maybe just some part of the political talk or bargaining going on behind the scenes. Personally I prefer to wait and see for myself if what you mentioned is indeed being officially inserted into the Bill, and so far I have not seen anything official about what you mentioned and I also just checked here via this link address:-

These may be things that are discussed in the senate, when it is debated there.  Much of the information I have read  on this bill  from the anti folks has been found not to be true and is mostly invented by the noisy negativists. Their moto is usually, " Don't confuse me with any facts, my minds already made up" .   [;)]

Inflamatory rhetoric really is not helpful.  I could make the same two statements about the pro-AB1634 folks, if I wanted to be annoying.
