i didnt see this video, but i have seen others like it.. years ago when i was watching the news i saw a similar story, also in russia, about how dog fighting is wildly popular there. they had little kids (one in particular was a little maybe four or five) just milling around while parents cheered on their favourite dog... yes... women too... one in particular is stuck in my mind. she looked like any average lady you'd see in the super market buying milk, but she had an ugliness about her, practicly snarling encouragement to the dogs..... i think one of which was a bull terrier.
Also, on Youtube, a few weeks back i saw the breeds you mentioned here in a fight. i only saw that video because a friend from another forum had posted a link to a video about Personal Protection dogs, the Caucasion mountain dog, and how they were training them. the list of videos next to it showed two dogs standing, facing each other... the description was in another language... maybe if it was in english i wouldnt have clicked on it.....
You asked about how they provoked them to fight? Well if this video is the same as the one i saw, then the men just shoved the dogs at each other several times. The video i saw the dogs were just staring at each other, as if they were saying "Who are you?" "Nice to meet you Sam" "So uhhhh.... what are we supposed to do?" "What ever they tell us i guess...." their posture was relaxed, their ears were relaxed, they werent exhibiting dominant behaviour in the slightest, until the men started shoving them at each other. The two dogs would spar for a few seconds, back off and look at each other again, they looked totally bewildered.
If thats too much information for anyone then i'm sorry. just telling you what i saw... rather... what i wish i had not seen.
Man kind is truly ugly for the most part. gladiator sports have existed for centuries... even before the Roman Gladiators.
My cousin once mentioned a young friend of hers that was doing a report for a class about the human fetish of gladiator type sports.... she had aparently hit a road block for a reason why people seem to be fascinated with such gore.... which is why my cousin mentioned it to me.. My own opinion is that some people watch it for the same reason they watch bloody gorry horror movies. the frame of mind seems to be "Better him than me!", some how it makes them feel safe and secure.. Seems like some people need the shock factor of seeing just how brutal and delicate life really is in order for them to live and be happy.. That may stem from some form of neglect from their childhood.
Personally i cant understand why people pay to see the latest horror films, let alone participate in dogfights, or cockfights, what have you.. i cant stand to see violence or brutality of any form. that just does NOT entertain me in the slightest. But then again, i've lived my life in a rural setting, a horse ranch in particular, as well as close to the woods. i dont need to watch tv to be reminded just how brutal nature can be. I see it all the time out here when my mom's chickens start to pick on the weaker ones, OR when a wild animal sneaks in and kills one of the chickens, not to mention finding the reminds from some local coyote's midnight snack....
Its not hard to understand why people are drawn to this sort of thing, but it doesnt make it any less pathetic. think about it long enough..... what are the most popular prime time tv shows right now? Lost, Ghost Whisperer, CSI, Greys Anatomy, Desperate Housewives...... every one of those shows is devistatingly violent (for me anyway) but look at their ratings!!! i dont even bother to turn my tv on anymore unless i want to find out what the weather is going to be like the next day - however i dont really have to do that because i have accuweather.com on my computer.... i dont have cable or satellite, and i dont want it.
anyway, thats enough psychology from me for now.
