Snownoose, I don't understand.  What are you advocating?  Or are you inciting?

I have the unpopular opinion that this woman should have gone about her crusade in a legal manner. That's all I intend to say.

I would not like to have a dog taken out of my yard either by someone who feels I am not taking care of my dog. I do take care of my dogs, and obviously this one was NOT.

It is against the law, but I distinctively rmember on another thread that we all break the law in one way or another.....lol.

What shocked me the most about this case was the lack of the Animal Control's involvement. They were called several times and nobody showed up. I think that had they responded in time this would have never happened. Which leads me to the question would you rescue a dog in need, let's say a dog in this type of situation, or would you follow the law and turn your head?

Glad to know I'm not the only one with that opinion.

Snow... following the law in this case, means if one entity ignores you you take it to their boss or the media...either one of which would have accomplished her goal WITHOUT the need for martyrdom.

There is ALWAYS someone higher up to speak with...and there is ALWAYS a media entity that can make the other party fall all over themselves to solve the problem.

It is my opinion that Grimes acted responsibly if her team tried to contact animal control, police, and the owners of the dogs and got no response.  It is my opinion that even if Grimes acted unilaterally but returned the dog, there would be no issue and no charges would have been filed against her.  Grimes crossed the line by not returning the dog to its owners and authorities have no choice but to apply the law on the totality of the situation.  As it stands Grimes team broke the law the minute she tresspassed on the property with the intention of taking the dog.

I wish there was a Good Samaritan law for dogs that is similar to people.  Many states are considering such a law.  The law would protect someone who has a reasonable belief that if an animal is in pain and distress they could enter property and remove it from the danger.  I do recall in our thread about leaving a dog in the car that the consensus was observe the situation, contact authorities, find the owner, contact the authorities.  There may have been one or two that said break the window.

Good Samaritan law slice both ways.  There is the reasonalbility test for taking action and if you start to take action and do not finish or stop helping you could be liable for damages.
