Having lived in Texas since 1974, when we moved here from California, I've seen our state do some stupid things. Or fail to do some important things, such as regulate wolfdogs. Many times, I was fairly sure that Texas was the capital of stupid. But it looks like a few well-supported canucks are trying to take the title.
So far, in America, as of this week, we still have a constiutional bill of rights against unreasonable (warrantless) search and seizure. Animal contol officers can seize a dog if it's in immediate danger. Otherwise, they call for a warrant and wait for the constable to arrive. But BSL never works. It doesn't solve the problem. What if they get rid of all the dogs that look like "pit bulls?" The criminals that fight dogs will simply pick another breed and continue on. The proper form of action is to arrest the criminals and stop dog fighting. But those guys are criminals and carry guns and fight back. Too dangerous. It easier to pick on a defenseless dog.
To put it nicely, I am not impressed with the leadership in Ontario that has allowed this injustice to happen.
