    "Hello,

My friends took in these 2 newfies because their owners suddenly moved. He did not want to see these dogs left behind and homeless, especially since he and his wife had been homeless themselves!

So they are caring for them until a home or rescue can be found, and hopefully asap as they are in a very small kennel. They are brothers, very bonded and about 5 years old. They are neutered and UTD. I met them today and they are fantastic dogs. Very socialized to humans (they love children), took to me immediately and walk great on a leash. Their names are Koda and Shadow, and they have wonderful canine confidence & accepted handling well. They don't get along with the dog my friends have, but Ginger is a very exhuberant young pit who is very protective of her humans, and she doesn't share well! So I can't really say that they don't get along with other dogs, but the feeling I got today is that they are slightly on the dominant side where other dogs are concerned, and Ginger very much so is.

I will transport if the trip is not over 6 hours round. Please feel free to crosspost.

Is she still looking for adoptive families? I didn't see any destination in the thread.

The reason I ask is because I helped SSRR last year transport a Rottie from Austin, Texas to Nashville, Tn. I took two legs. Dallas to Sulphur Springs and Sulphur Springs to Texarkana. Actually, I picked the dog up in Lancaster, south of Dallas and transferred to another couple in New Boston, west of Texarkana. Anyway, if the destination is in Texas or southern Oklahoma, I could probably help.

Ron thanks for asking about these boys, they have had quite the time getting them to a safe place.  See the following, especially notice the last entry Wink

These boys were at a home where things got urgent!  The people trying to take care of them (not a foster home) got their water turned off.

This is the info received over the weekend'

    Friday April 9

I just want everyone to know that I've gotten SOOO Many messages
regarding these Newf. mixes. We are so full of non-mixes, its not funny.
HOWEVER, since it's marked URGENT and the person who has them now has no water,
we are going to provide them boarding at a vet at minimum till I know more about
the boys temperaments. If they show no aggression we have a rescue up northeast
who will take them for us. We would like to kindly ask for help with their
boarding and shot fees. It can be done via us (http://www.newfierescue.org) or
directly with the vet they will be boarded with once I have confirmation they
    are there.
Once I heard they got their water turned off and I kept getting emails
about them...I took action last night. Got the vet lined up..got help to get
them there lined up...called the rescue in the northeast to see if they can
help....and the ball is now rolling this morning.

    Friday April 9

The boys will be picked up FIRST thing in the morning. The guy who has
them, as Laurie stated is kind of weird, and neighborhood is the kind that
people have pit bulls for the wrong reason if you get my drift. Laurie is tied
up this afternoon and given the type of neighborhood it is, she's going in the
morning to get them. She stated that they've been starting to dig to get out of
their kennel. So let's put the power of prayer to work here and hope they don't
get out in this horrible neighborhood overnight.
     They will be taken here for vetting and boarding;

    Saturday April 10th

Mary phoned me just after she dropped them off at the vets. They
are VERY human friendly, but we have to evaluate them more regarding other dogs.
Mary's photographer friend will go there hopefully Monday for new photos.

I meant to keep up with this thread more closely. So, what's the news, now? And I understand the dire straits of those involved. I, as well, have gone through harsh economic times. We narrowly avoided some things and had other utilities momentarily disrupted. Ended up putting it on DW's credit card and now we have payments ranging up to $270/month. Ouch. But with a good -paying job, I hope to turn our finances around, as well. So, I totally understand how the people could have had great intentions to start and now find themselves down and out. We have government that I wish would worry about jobs (that's all I'm going to say on that.)

Anyway, good luck with the people in the Northeast.
